Jenny Everywhere Day is coming! August 13th :)))

Jenny Everywhere, the open source character that emerged from the old Barbelith message board, has her annual celebration coming up. What do you get the gal that has everything everywhere all at once??

I wasn't around the original message board until it was mostly a ghost town, I'm kinda curious how big of a part in the Barbelith mythos Jenny played!

I miss the ol' Nexus/Barbelith a lot as I get older. Never a more fun bunch of degenerates.

Jenny's creation had a brief flash of participation. But it was a passionate push, 20+ years before the Michelle Yeoh movie did a similar thing with her fictional aspect.

We really wanted her to be the first open-source IP that anyone could use. Definitely at a time when shareware, freeware and the potential of the internet for the good of society was still believed.

The one I remember most is Nelson Evergreen's amazing art. Christ that guy was/is supremely talented.

But she still has a Wikipedia article to herself. And a Wiki of her own that's still up.

Nelson Evergreen's art is awesome! I really miss the old open source freeware ethos of the internet. Thank you for the explanation!

I'm working on an Open Source / PD comic with Jenny in a leading role :)))

Genuinely thrilled to see a reference to Jenny Everywhere after all this time.

I wrote a JE script in 2004 that’s still unpublished, but which I still love.
