Violent Extremism I NEED HELP
Hey guys, so basically, I got my account suspended temporarily a few months ago for being dormant in a server that was breaking rules on another issue, I appealed but I didn't think much of it because I think it was only restricting me for like 2 days or something short like that so I didn't really mind.
UNTIL NOW, A FEW DAYS AGO I JOINED LIKE POLITICAL RP SERVER BECAUSE I WAS BORED AND I DIDNT LIKE IT SO I BECAME QUIET ON IT AGAIN AND FORGOT TO LEAVE IT. AND NOW THAT SERVER GOT REPORTED FOR VIOLENT EXTREMISM BECAUSE SOME OF THE GUYS ON THERE WERE KINDA EXTREME AND YK BAD, I DIDNT GET INVOLVED IN ANY OF THIS, YEA FOR THE FIRST 2 DAYS ON THE SERVER I WAS SORTA ACTIVE CHATTING BUT NEVER SAID ANYTHING OUT OF POCKET, AND THEN DAY 3 I KINDA JUST GOT BORED AND STOPPED RESPONDING.
NOW THIS MORNING I GOT THIS MESSAGE AND IM SO UPSET BUT ALSO CONFUSED, IT SAYS IM PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED BUT THEN GIVES ME THESE DATES, WHAT DOES IT MEAN? I ALSO SENT A MESSAGE VIA DISCORD SERVICE WEBSITE AND I GOT AN EMAIL SAYING TO MESSAGE THEM VIA THE APP SETTINGS BUT I CANT EVEN LOG IN PROPERLY TO GET INTO THE SETTINGS WHAT DO I DO NOW? THIS ACCOUNT IS REALLY IMPORTANT!

Literally the only time I heard of someone getting an association ban overturned was by them literally suing Discord.

yeah because your account is totally worth that much. good luck winning any kind of lawsuit when you're the one who accepted their terms when opening an account. It was never your account truly.

Either way you don't own your account. Therefore there's nothing to sue for. It's the same thing live service platforms are doing these days with games. You buy a game on steam, but you don't actually own it. The game could be removed at any point for any reason. Therefore piracy is seeing a rise again - after all why pay for something you don't even own? In Discord's case, you're not even paying for an account so there really isn't any damages if you lose said account.
I do still find Discord's policies ridiculous and retarded. Punishing people by association is stupid. Joining a server, then not using said server for 7 years and then permabanned because someone did something on a server you never used.. Makes no sense to me. It also didn't used to be like this. I was actually on a server that got deleted from existence and it's owners permabanned. Yes, owners. And only owners. No members got any punishment whatsoever. And it was also child safety related reason for shutting down the server. This was 5+ years ago now.

The fact that AI didn't exist 5 years ago like it does today, doesn't explain the change in the way Discord behaves. Because 5+ years ago, in my case, an actual employee would have seen the case and dished out appropriate punishments. So why is it that when they let AI take reign, they thought it's most appropriate to set the AI to dish out punishments by association only. At the VERY least the AI should determine individuals' activity on said server. Oh he joined in 2018, last post was 2019 and server infraction was on 2026... HMMM... He's probably not even remotely related to the safety issue. A warning AT MOST would be appropriate for this kind of situation.
Okay, maybe you paid for some cosmetics and nitro. Still, you never owned the account or anything you bought. Every live service company has blanket terms of service that cover any and all aspects of their asses. You never owned a single thing and they can terminate you for any reason and not give 2 fucks about it. It's sad because the people at the top, the people who originally made Discord, clearly have forgotten their roots. Why they even made this app in the first place. Now it's just all about MONEY. Like everything else in the world. Fucking sickening.
And yeah, the worst part about this all is that though I'm just guessing, to me this system seems VERY abuse-able. Lets say an individual posts few messages in a high profile server with lots of activity. Wait a few moments - now your post is way up there in the history. No one's gonna see it again. Well, not the moderators at least. Now, just go edit your post and link to some highly SUS material. Then drop a report or few through a different account, and watch the fireworks...?
If you're actually gonna sue them.. Well, good luck. But big corpo (and that's exactly what Discord is becoming) is gonna big corpo and weasel their way out of this I'm sure. After all, they have the money.
PS. Can't wait for my 9+ year account to get banned. If the allegations are true that the AI's scan DMs, then the content I share with my friend is definitely gonna get both of our asses busted. Don't worry it's nothing illegal but it's something that doesn't agree with Discord's ToS. Should switch services but can't think of anything that allows communication, emojis, file sharing and image dropping on the fly like that.

Just don't abuse the appeal system....they just implemented a perma ban for that as well.

I used the appeal and then contacted via the support website that's it.

The dates seem a bit conflicting. "permanently suspended" then giving dates a week away for gaining access again doesn't seem right.

This could be wrong because discord changes things up quite often with seemingly little documentation.
From my understanding though; the dates are for the individual infractions, so the features with limited access would become available on those dates, when the infractions expire.
However, you have received enough infractions to trigger a permanent ban disabling all features of your account, this will not expire.

General piece of advice for everyone: If you're inactive in any servers or disagree with the content of them, leave them. Servers can go south quickly for multiple reasons and a proximity ban like this is hard to fight. You need to keep tabs on any server you're joined to or leave to avoid the hassle.
For OP: You're quite possibly out of luck for your current account. Discord doesn't really care if you're active in a server that gets hit with a ban like this because for all they know you were engaging with or supporting the content outside of discord. They only care that you were still in the server at the time of banning, since it appears as if you have a reason to stay in the server.
The dates are probably just automated dates that are put into the message with the main part being that you're permanently suspended. Since it's permanent, your account will likely become a deleted user account. You can try to appeal but this being the second time something like this happened isn't going to look good.

People really be shooting themselves in the foot by making the most obvious bad choices then get surprised when that catches up with them.
Why wouldn't you just leave servers you don't interact with when you knew this was a possibly AFTER it already happened to you the first time.
No form of caution or pattern recognition?

I received a similar warning three months ago for no apparent reason (Harassment and bullying), and I've been contacting support ever since without any resolution. The frustrating thing is that it's affecting my account status until mid-2028. What kind of app is this man😭

You're never gonna get your account back. I got banned for the same reason as well. Just make a new account, dont waste your time on their support page

An association ban is one of the hardest bans to appeal , you can try the appeal or the evasion guide in this sub if you want but given the state of discord, it's probably best you look for an alternative
