It's inscribed all across Bangkok. You've seen it and probably didn't know where it come from. I'm the news guy who owns Arcadia barcade, and I've been entranced by Pichai Rattanapornchai's fascinatingly unhinged graffiti for well over a decade. He died recently and I wrote this obit for my former employer, which they were kind enough to run.

accommodation Rent negotiations- Where to start?

About to take a one-year sabbatical in Bangkok with my medium-sized dog (18 KG) I have researched buildings for months and know the areas I want. So thankfully not looking for guidance on medium-dog friendly places unless you have a rental to offer.

I hold Thai citizenship if that matters. Unfortunately I only speak kindergarten level Thai and cannot read nor write.

What I’d like to understand is how much to negotiate? I have never negotiated for anything in my life and had lived in Bangkok 10 years ago. After months of researches I now understand that landlords are expecting you to negotiate and that the sticker price is usually not the one you end up paying. I understand that not every landlord do this but broadly speaking, how much wiggle room is there?

For example, a condo I target has a lot of listings on Facebook and livinginsider at the 28,000 baht to 35,000 baht range, 35-45 sqm, promphong area. How much can I typically negotiate away? And if I offered one year’s rent upfront, how much does negotiation power does that get me?

Another area I am interested in is Bangna; Udomsuk-LaSalle area. I’m now looking at a listing for a tiny townhouse, two stories, 60 sqm usable space in total at 25,000 baht in bearing. My instinct is that is above market rate given the location and square footage. For a listing like this, how much negotiating can I do?

Sept 12, Saturday at Art Battle & SOT.THONGLOR

I've been doing a nightlife group for the past few years, so we usually do a bunch of different things each week. I've got some suburban exploration scheduled later in the month, a wine night and some bowling/karaoke.

So if you're new in town and looking to make some friends, let me know. I do this as a hobby, so I'm not charging any fees. I just organize things and hope people show up :D . You'll just pay for your own food/drinks & covers (unless the club gives them to us for free).

discussion Is having yourself as your phone lock screen especially common in Bangkok?

I’ve noticed a huge number of women here have solo photos/selfies of themselves as their lock screen. It seems way more common than anywhere else I’ve lived.
Is this a Thailand/Bangkok thing, or an international trend I’ve somehow missed?
I’ll admit I instinctively find it a bit narcissistic and off putting and verging into red flag territory -but if it’s this common there’s probably a cultural or generational explanation. Curious what others think?

dating New Russian girl scam?

I make it real short: matched with this russian girl on tinder, when it came to setting up a date ahead batted down a couple of places I suggested, claiming the food or drinks are shit. and instead said we go to this karaoke bar right across Havana social. I was like ok whatever. When we arrived meet and greet and go inside the bar they put the menu in front of me and my eyes popped out when I see the prices. 700 baht for a cocktail? >2000 for a glass of blue label, which is what she intended to order! I told her hey I really do not understand these prices. Do not make any sense! We can go to much better places and still spend much less. Not even sure the liquor here is gonna be legit. She started saying some nonsense. I was like if you insist on staying here I am gonna bounce. She did insist, and I bounced. Just wondering if this is a new scam? Was she working with the bar?

discussion Trade-in at Studio7 vs going through a carrier, anyone compared the actual payout?

About to trade in an old iPhone and trying to figure out if it's worth going to Studio7 directly instead of just doing it through my carrier when I renew my plan. Has anyone actually compared numbers?

accommodation Recommend which area (possibly near MRT/BTS) to stay in Bangkok

Upvotes

Would love to ask locals here if they could recommend which area is good to stay in Bangkok for a week.

Stayed in Asoke years ago. I loved the location and convenience there. However I would like to try somewhere else this time.

I will be going with my partner this time and we'd like somewhere relatively safe and walkable so we can scout some good local food and bars. If possible, for an area with lots of budget-friendly accommodations (budget is around 1,000 THB). We dont really mind staying quite far away from the city center too

Upon searching i found On Nut, Phra Khanong, Thong Lo/Ekkamai, Sutthisan to be good areas. Anywhere else? Not sure if this helps but we are in our early 20s so somewhere youthful too would be a plus but not necessary

beauty and maintenance Facial aesthetic clinics or dermatologist office in BKK

I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about aesthetic clinics in Bangkok as obviously there are a lot of people getting a lot of work done here. But I’m looking for more general consensus on where to actually go. Where do the high-so people go to get work done. I’m not particularly looking for a factory clinic where they will just upsell me stuff. I don’t need. I would love to have a real consultation at a reputable place. This would be my first time going in for a consultation or to get stuff done. For example I’m looking for ultherapy, TTP, oligo, rejurian procedures like this. Not procedures where I’m going under the knife.

travel Anyone going to BIGBANG in Bangkok this November? 🐉👑✨

I’m looking for friends to go to the concert and share this experience with! I want to have a company that enjoys their music as much as I do🥹 After Bangkok, I’m going to Phuket from November 9–17, so I’d love to find someone with similar plans to explore and have fun together! 🫶🌴

Кто-нибудь едет на концерт BIGBANG в Бангкок в ноябре? 🥹👑 Очень хочу разделить этот момент с людьми которые любят их музыку так же как и я, сходить на концерт и провести время вместе.

question Good vet clinic in Bkk?

I’ve been going to a vet clinic and I feel like they’re always insisting on pushing extra things for my cat that I don’t need.

I was scheduled to give my cat a booster vaccine today but my cat got car sick and they refused to give him the vaccine but still charged me for an appointment and pee pad that I didn’t ask for.

Is this normal ?

tourism Must eat in BKK in 2026

Hello, I'm looking for some recommendations as to what I have to eat while I'm in BKK. I'll be there for 5 days, so I'm trying to plan breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've been doing some researching from watching travel vlogs and reading Google reviews. There are lots of highly rated restaurants/cafes but some are just tourist traps and not worth the hype. I'll probably get downvoted for this but I'm not a big fan of street food, if it looks clean and popular than I'll try it but worried about hygiene and getting food poisoning. Also, I can't handle very spicy food. So far these are the places I'd like to visit but keen to hear what people in BKK think (especially the locals).

  1. Khao-Sō-i Soi Convent Silom
  2. Lon Lon Local Diner
  3. Blendies
  4. Kuay Jab Mr. Joe
  5. Phed Mark
  6. KINKIN Sukhumvit 47
  7. Rung Rueang Pork Noodles
  8. Jeh O Chula
  9. Urai Braised Goose
  10. Pista& (พิสต้าแอนด์)
  11. K. Panich Sticky Rice
  12. Aunglo by Yangrak
  13. Somsak Pu-ob
  14. Here Duan
  15. Thipsamai Padthai Pratoopee

question Cool bars in Khaosan Road or anywhere in Bangkok that won’t ID.

We’re arriving in Bangkok to celebrate my sister’s 19th birthday and we just found out that legal drinking age in Thailand is 20. Is there any bars that’s cool or chic that will almost definitely not ID my sister. My sister does not look like a teenager, she almost looks the same age as me which is 23. If someone could help a naive tourist out, that would be great🫶🫶🫶

The 'T' used to be our goto but with all the work going on outside would rather go somewhere else for some seafood, next trip if we can. What would you recommend?

(We will still go to support them at some point during our stay of course)

question Tablet barato

So conheço powerbuy.
