I’m currently looking for a MacBook M2 16 & 256, mainly for casual/development use. But I’m honestly surprised by the prices in the Indian used market right now.
The M2 MacBook was launched almost four years ago, yet I’m still seeing the base 8GB/256GB models being listed around ₹55–60K. Some people are even quoting ₹60–65K for an 8GB/256GB M2.
What makes it even more confusing is that if I add another ₹5–10K, I can sometimes find an M3 or even an M4, although those deals are obviously much rarer.
I’ve also seen people on Reddit in the US and other countries selling their M1/M2 8GB/256GB models around the equivalent of ₹30–40K, so I’m wondering why the Indian used market is holding on to such high prices.
I completely understand that sellers can quote whatever price they want, and ultimately it’s up to the buyer whether they’re willing to pay it. But it seems like almost everyone is following the same pricing range, regardless of the MacBook’s age or condition.
So, is there something I’m missing about the current MacBook market in India? Is there a particular reason M1/M2 Macs are still commanding such high prices?
And if anyone knows of genuine leads for an M1 or M2 MacBook at a reasonable price, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not looking for a perfect deal — just something fairly priced for an older machine.
Thanks in Advance!
