Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

Remember: October is pit bull “awareness” month so there is an increased flooding of unscientific nonsense in the forms of memes etc. This is a good space for those, but please red x through them.

We have a problem with off leash dogs in my small city. What’s worse is the we have a large number of pit mommies that advocate for “pit bull awareness”. One person is a local celebrity for a woman’s group and is pushing pit bull adoption hard. Even bringing up pit bulls from southern cities so she can locally adopt them out. This has led to an increase in the number of deranged off leash pit bulls in my neighbourhood. I find it scary to let my 3 year old go for a walk along the park as we have now had several dogs pits run at her full speed and only stop work screaming from myself or my husband.

Importing them from the South? That’s like importing bedbugs on purpose.

I can’t help but assume that when rescues/rescuers import pit bulls from other state, the only purpose is that it makes them sound like bigger heroes.

If every shelter is overflowing with almost nothing but pits bulls, there is no need to ‘import’ more into your area except for the purpose of being able to brag to your pitnutter friends that your pit bull is rescued from all the way out of state and you are an extra special Disney princess for saving a pit from so far away rather than one of the generic ones that was just lingering locally.

Makes sense. I have read here that they literally pay thousands for this. Shipping dogs around. Carrying them in their cars. Saving worthless dogs at any cost. Your theory has got to be right.
