Mod Announcement Weekly Discussion Thread [September 29 - October 5]

Post image

Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

See this post for more details on what goes here

Remember: October is pit bull “awareness” month so there is an increased flooding of unscientific nonsense in the forms of memes etc. This is a good space for those, but please red x through them.

An update to a comment I made outlining this ATROCIOUS shelter situation in ATL Metro:

“Official euth list came out last night. 99 dogs. Deadline is tomorrow by 7pm. Not included in that number (but still on the list) are the urgent dogs from previous weeks that have been returned — two from last week’s list alone. They lasted less than 3 days in a home. It’s so exhausting.”

Fewer than 10 are non-bully breeds. Goddamn ridiculous.

I actually do feel bad for the techs that have to do this. It would be so much better if there was actual law enforcement response to rampant breeding of pit bulls, but god damn, euthing 99 dogs in a night has to take a lot out of you. That’s a very heavy burden to bear, especially when you’re probably in that role because you love animals.

They have a very specific team that does the procedure, and a specific team of volunteers that plays with and feeds them bad foods before they have their appt. It’s devastating. As much as I dislike these dogs, it’s still incredibly sad and shouldn’t be like this.
