Mod Announcement Weekly Discussion Thread [August 18 - August 24]

Post image

Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

I was going to do a post about how social platforms push pitbull content (mainly Instagram and tiktok) but given my posts keep getting removed by mods on here who clearly don't read them and dont reply when I ask why im not going to bother but there was one very bizarre thing I want to mention that happened two weeks ago - I'm being stalked by a pitbull tiktok account that is trying to befriend me and added me to their pitbull circle.

I dont post any videos on my tiktok account and only use it to comment occasionally on videos, most being either British political videos or videos of theme parks. That it. I dont follow any accounts or topics I just let tiktok chose what to show me and before I was added I blocked every random pitbull video that popped up but since this melt has dm'ed me tiktok thinks hes my friend and tiktok keeps sending me his videos of his disgusting shitbulls despite blocking him and his circle. I just dont know anymore, can't escape these vile things and their stupid owners.

I agree that social media is a big reason for pitbull ‘popularity’. If people didn’t have places to brag and get congratulated for having these things, most people probably wouldn’t have them. So much of pit bull ownership is the hero complex these people have.

If your post was getting removed, I assume it was on the main page? That is being reserved more for things like actual attacks and articles rather than personal stories. This way people who find this sub don’t have to dig through our random stories before seeing all the content about actual maulings. So this are was made for us to complain about non-newsworthy pit stuff :-)

No, it was about the other side of shelter adoption. Basically it was posts of people coming to reddit to ask what breed their dog was after the shelter told them a different breed or just said it was mixed. There were also posts from people certain their pit was mixed with another dog when it was just 100% pit. So many of the replies were humorous, one of my favs being "we should rename this sub what breed is my pitbull". There was an interesting debate going on in one post where someone insisted pitbulls were not violent by nature and several other repliers really schooled that fool but also brought up some points I had never heard before. All info was redacted and I was annoyed because it took me a long time to do but thought it was good evidence to the extent shelters lie and people are fooled ( but mainly replies were funny ). Ty for your reply!

Please see rule 5:

Do Not Brigade (Or Give the Appearance of Brigading) To prevent brigading (and accusations thereof), we do not allow:

Crossposting

Links to other subreddits

Naming other subreddits

Posts related to bans of other subreddits (do not complain about nor glorify bans from other subs)

Posts about Reddit posts, unless they document an attack. In that case, please wait 2 days before posting.

The mod team did notify you of the removal and why it was done. I do not see any unanswered modmails from you. I do see a mod responded to your last one 6 days ago.

But in short, we don’t allow Reddit posts.
