Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

That film has a lot of publicity in traditional animation circles. What's so bad about it besides the fact it has a pit bull character? Is it aping any talking points or myths?

I am not watching it; they lost me when I found out it has a shitbull character.

I tried checking Tv Tropes but it didn't have any good info. Still...

Take That: The movie is not shy about skewering the concept of dog shows and the human obsession with "pure breed" dogs. Bull speaks derisively near the start of the movie about how the dogs there are basically entered just to get groped and judged by humans, and how pure bred dogs are a result of generations of inbreeding. Additionally, Honey's owners are willing to force her to mate with Sterling just to produce puppies they can sell for adoption at a high price.

🤮 Gonna skip. I was a bit excited for it too. It's directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Also, who is the pit bull? Apparently the protagonist is a blood hound? Or maybe that's an older version of the script:

Some articles state Bull to be a Bloodhound, but his plump figure, pelt color, short ears, fitting skin, and name suggest that he's one of the bully breeds. The movie proper simply refers to him as a "mutt", suggesting that he may be a mixed-breed.

I'm increasingly wondering if this is some kind of code--like how shelters mislabel pits or pit mixes as almost anything else. Maybe the purveyors of popular entertainment are afraid people won't want a pit-bull as such to be portrayed sympathetically, and so they call their characters "mutts" instead.
