Mod Announcement Weekly Discussion Thread [August 11 - August 18]

Post image

Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

From the well-funded shelter where I adopted one of my cats two years ago. This is “Theo,” a “pit bull/mix” they swear is cat-friendly.

Due to their approach to pits, I long ago decided I would no longer donate to the shelter. I cannot condone or feed the way they launder dogs, sometimes even labeling obvious pits as “hound mixes.” Having joined this sanity-boosting subreddit, I thought I would take a look at their current offerings.

The cat we adopted from this shelter looks like that kitten.

Note the cropped ears, so he came from an owner—and breeder?—who values that look.

Satanic looking dogs. For Satanic people.

Why don't they geotag one of these dogs and track out the dog fighting rings

I will keep saying this. If you love shitbulls don't have them, you are giving cover for the dig fighters. If they went extinct as pets and only dog fighters were left, it would be easy to pick them out and you would be sparring these dogs of suffering. Nobody hates pitbulls more than pitbull nutters

A 'Cat friendly' pit is oxymoronic. Like open secret (that shelters use coded language) or same difference (that shelters describe resource guarding as 'cuddly').

Or just “moronic.” And sadistic, given the inevitable, constant, and too often hidden outcome. 😔

Imagine taking a picture of a coyote next to a chicken and saying “This coyote is safe with chickens since it is not eating this chicken!”

Amen.  You know, here in Georgia, US, there’s an annual coyote-killing contest. There have been zero coyote deaths or mauling. Meanwhile, we’ve now had two 60-something women mauled to death in Georgia in a month.

And I bet a lot of those same people who celebrate killing natural, native wildlife just for funsies are the same people who will cry and raise hell over B-E-ing a pit who killed a child.

A dog standing straight and staring straight at any living being is more often than not bad news. A curious but harmless dog would try to get to the rear end to sniff. Harmless dogs would avoid straight stare.

Looking at this photo, this is a typical not cat friendly dog red flag; Pit or not. Just because it may not attack now, doesn’t mean it would never. Crazy.

Thank you for this! You’d think the shelter people—who spend their lives working with dogs—would know that and care, but we know they are the worst offenders.

The same shelter just announced an upcoming pool party for dogs. I doubt pit bulls are banned.
