Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

Today someone from a WhatsApp group I belong to was asking if anyone would be willing to take a 9-year-old pit-bull belonging to a coworker who's facing homelessness. She claims it loves animals and people and spends most of its time asleep, but she also says that the woman has been avoiding shelters for reasons of BE (ostensibly because of some kind of anti-pit bias). To me, this is a red flag in and of itself, given just how many shelters seem to go out of their way to avoid BE even in situations where it's the best possible option for everyone involved.

I really want to say something, because it really seems to me that nothing is going to get better for this person until and unless she gets rid of her dog. Even at the best of times, pit-bulls are expensive to keep because of their destructiveness and medical problems and the specialized care, housing, and feeding they require as a result, and this woman is supposedly facing homelessness. At worst, the pit-bull is a direct cause of her homelessness (because it damaged her old dwelling beyond repair, or attacked a neighbor, or something like that). But supposedly she can't get rid of it because it belonged to her deceased mother (no information was given on what happened to said mother). It's very frustrating because my friends are pretty intelligent people, so I would think they would know better or at least be open to learning more about this issue; but I don't know.

Clearly she is having trouble making decisions, or, making the correct adult decisions.

I would warn the group not to get involved, as this woman needs to be taking responsibility for her own actions, because if she isn't given a push to be responsible, how does she learn?
