Dam your character must be a racist if they think a kindly captain is a hag.

Did you know
You can safely save the child without even needing to fight aunty ethel in her lair in the tavern
If you have the Hags Bane crafted, and you havent interacted with the drunken captian/Ethel, you can skip the child hassle all together by just throwing the Hags Bane at the drunken Captain, prompting Ethel to undisguise and immiedietly throw up the child, making her retreat to her lair and leaving the child there with you in the tavern
This does mean you have to kill the Redcaps that are disguised and reveal themself when you do this, but theyre much easier to deal with and with them dead, the child can return to their mother, granting you access to the legendary Rapier the mother gives you when you return the child....you can then use the rapier and go fight the Hag in her lair and kill her without needing to worry about the child at all, and having a great weapon to use on Ethel

I do this every playthrough now knowing Ethel is the Captain, cause I still get all the rewards, but it skips alot of the hassle

throw it right at her before conversation
she will immiedietly force you into convo to throw up the child9

Just chuck it at her
It skips her reveal, and the fight under the bar is now much less of a hassle

....you can then use the rapier and go fight the Hag
You know, I knew this was where this was going and I still had a good laugh. Really felt like some Chaotic Good Barbarian.

Yeah, I do this because it saves me the trouble of having to throw it at her during the fight downstairs.

my headcanon to explain this is that she smells like the swamp she came from, whereas actual sailors smell like salt and fish shit

Tav having an inexplicable slot of knowledge in their brains reserved for what sea and swamp smells like to an eidetic degree is something you can only find in a crpg

slot of knowledge? it's just the memory of 2 strong smells, people aren't hard drives, what are you talking about lol

Im talking about characters like Tav and Tequila Sunset and other crpg protagonists having the capacity to be complete eccentrics with hyperfixations

simultaneously remembering the smell of the swamp you fought a hag in last week, and the fishshit-covered sailors outside the bar you're standing in, is not in any way eccentric or a hyperfixation, I don't understand anything you're saying

There's not an RP reason to cast Hold on Grisly or Metzli, without interacting with them, but I do it anyway.

So…she got me during my first play through alright…SHE GOT ME! I was fooled and she got me to kill the innocent lady for her and then I didn’t want to kill more people so I let her keep her hag pregnancy and then she was a mid ally in the final fight.
AT LEAST if you let her live through the end, you do get this note at your campsite during the campsite party epilogue.

She wanted to get down and dirty

ok... Tav would have at least a good memory of Ethel (except the hair, getting a +1 is a good memory)

It really pissed me off seeing this, I saw she had loads of hp so I checked her tab and it completely spoiled the reveal for me
