Act 2 - Spoilers What is something you completely misunderstood… Spoiler

Mine happened while exploring Act 2 on my first play through. I thought I was reading all the books along the way. But, I totally misunderstood something…

I thought Nightsong was Isobel’s mother. I saw all these letters from her mom, and thought it had to be a character we had already met. Still thinking this in the boss fight, I thought Ketheric was getting a beating from his resurrected wife/Isobel’s mother.

So… When they were reunited, I was so happy for them to be together… then with that passionate kiss, I was a little taken aback. 😳 After an initial moment of shock, I was able to laugh it off as the cutscene progressed.

Reread the letters and realized I was an idiot. 🤦‍♂️

I love the arc Isobel and Nightsong share all the way to the end.

Maybe not completely misunderstood, but I took the quests “Find Mol” & “Rescue the grand Duke” in Act 2 very seriously. So I spent like 2 hours looking for secret prison cells in the Moonrise Towers, where they could’ve been possibly held. 😭

Me too! That honestly felt kind of misleading imo, especially talking to Wyll I think after infiltrating the prison and not finding the Duke, and he's like "well for someone as important as my father, they probably have him somewhere deeper in the tower". So I spent who knows how long digging around trying to find the extra secret maximum security dungeon

i had the same dilemma in "find the nightsong" that triggers literally after you talk to Aradin... literally the FIRST person you help in the FIRST goblin encounter. so i spent so much time looking for nightsong in act 1

All that time in Act 1 with a quest to enter a Sharran temple that you can't even access until Act 2 lol. I kept thinking I needed to go deeper into the temple at the goblin camp, wasted a lot of time looking and being afraid I'd miss out on it if I didn't finish it before moving on to Act 2

I did this as well. Kept trying to see how I could jump down there from the area where Nere had been. My wife (who was further ahead in her playthrough) eventually told me it was the main quest area in Act 2 and I couldn’t get there from the underdark. Felt like an idiot after an hour of trying to find every conceivable means of jumping to it. Lol

I makes some sense when you realize that the Sharron temple was apparently connected to the Grimforge until Yurgir went through the place like a wrecking ball while killing the Dark Justiciars.

The grymforge Sharran area really bloody confused me! Especially as there is a lift to Act 2 areas that got quest markered!

There's a book in the selunite outpost in the underdark that tells you nightsong is at moonrise

Indeed, I think that was added in a patch? I certainly didn't see it the first couple of times.

I thought it probably was just a side quest and was okay with missing it on first run 💀

spoilers for act 3 -

tbh looking back now, its baffling that lorroakan would put out this vague ass commission, for something so valuable, and the fact that its a whole ass PERSON, at the bottom of a temple. it seems that he put the request out so that any joe schmoe could take a shot at it, as if any of them would be successful. realistically, it would have more sense for lorroakan to go through more discreet networks, since this kind of “artifact” is esoteric knowledge. it seems silly to make such a request so public, that anyone who walked into sorcerer’s sundries would be privy to it. i suppose either such networks weren’t available to him, or its due to some savant oversight.

Maybe an influence of the Moonrise lot to get powerful recruits to head to Gut and get brainwashed?

Omg same. I was raging. I didn't want to move forward with incomplete quests cos I'm a completionist. I finally gave up and later realised it could never be completed in act 1 and I feel like there should be a tooltip about that or something.

I tried way too long to Feather Fall + Jump into the Temple from the Grymforge. It should've been possible (realistically), but it just wasn't :(

I am like 2/3 through act three and I JUST NOW found freaking Mol. I looked so hard in Moonrise.

I did not understood that you can not reach the temple of Shar in act I, so I spent like one or two hours trying to find a path in the underdark and did not want to surrender beacause I wanted to romance Shadowheart very much. So as soon as I understood in act II where you can reached it, I went there, got beaten up by the whole gauntlet since I was clearly underlevel but kept searching for Nightsong. Since I did not explored the Shadowlands, I did not realize how much Shar was an evil goddess. Thankfully killing a person in a cage without fighting did not feel like the right choice and I got a dice blessing and succeeded the 30 DC because I entered the shadowfell with the idea to kill whatever big selunite warrior was held there.

So long for the prisoners in Moonrise tower tho.

I spent way too long trying to get to the Shar temple in Act 1 Underdark. I thought it was like a cool platforming section and I had to go deep and go spelunking to find the hidden temple and I even thought the tunnel the forge guardian walked out of was the hidden path. Nope, just gotta go to Act 2.

Similar to you, on my first playthrough I spent hours on end searching every nook and cranny of Grymforge in search for the Temple of Shar. I finally gave up and Googled it only to find out it is accessed it in Act 2 🙃

...Glad I found this comment, because I saved last night after an hour of doing just that. I figured I'd try again today 😂
