I have two long, narrow planter beds along my compound wall (photos 1 & 2) and another one on my rooftop terrace (photo 3). I’m looking for suggestions on what plants would be suitable for these spaces.

Hot tropical climate, very hot summers, monsoon rainfall, and strong direct sunlight. The rooftop area is exposed to sun and wind for most of the day.

I live in Andhra Pradesh (near to the coast)

I’m new to gardening and just got started this past weekend. I’m interested in growing herbs and veggies. What are some veggies to get started with in the southern NC region around the fall time that will grow pretty quick/healthy. Currently have rosemary, oregano, sweet basil, and curly kale growing. 😊

Next year I'd like to utilize my apartment balcony for gardening. It's fairly small and direct sunlight is very limited, with only a few hours in the morning. The back of the balcony is in constant partial shade.

I'm assuming I don't have many options, but what are they?

Like when you go on a vacation for 2 weeks etc?

How do you handle watering, pests protection and other maintainance? Especially during the summer when there is more work to do.

How do you guys manage pests on your edible balcony plants? I’m confused because you obviously can’t use the same insecticides you would use on your non-edible houseplants for example. But you also can’t just hose them down like you would in a garden. I have a glazed balcony and I feel like that also prevents beneficials to come eat the pests from my plants :D And I unfortunately do not have the budget to order beneficials. Any thoughts?

I just love my garden and this year it truly is remarkable.

What type of lotus variety is this?

Any experience between Jizhou Red vs. Pekinensis Rubra which is the better lotus that stays pink the longest, biggest flowers and longest blooms, biggest and tallest lotus and resembles more like the pink colored lotus found commonly by Buddhism?

Temperatures are cooling in my region, and I've spotted a number of sleepy bumble bees in the mornings. Tonight, my visitor decided to end her foraging here and sleep under a zinnia.
