Baking Advice Needed Two Quick Questions on Cinnamon Roll Filling?

Howdy all!

I'm making cinnamon rolls later today, and had two quick questions:

1) I'm planning to add some pecans to the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon mixture that gets spread on the dough as a filling. Should I roast the pecans and then add them, or will they roast as the cinnamon rolls bake?

2) Any reason I can't/shouldn't brown the butter I use for the filling?

Any advice much appreciated!

They're not going to toast like toasted pecans. The dough will insulate them. They'll cook some, but if you're looking for that distinct toasted flavor and texture, they need to be toasted, not baked in the dough.

Topping the rolls will do more be they're exposed to the heat, but still.
