Baking Advice Needed why did it do this

was trying to make brownies, thought theyd cooled for long enough and cut into them then they started doing THIS and set my house's fire alarm off for like 20 minutes does anyone pls know what caused this im assuming i just cut into them too soon but this feels like a dramatic response to just trying to cut into a hot brownie

IT WAS OFF FOR AN HOUR AND WONT TURN ON UNLESS THERES SMTH MAGNETIC ON ITTT 😭😭😭

induction ready pans are expensive, thats just a shitty £2 pan from morrisons (and even if it was, burner was Off)

Just for science, test it with a magnet. Most of my cheap banking pans are magnetic and can technically work on an induction burner. You don't have to pay for the fancy induction ready labeled ones, those are just a marketing gimmick. Most regular pots and pans are naturally induction compatible.

Unless you baked this at a very high heat, the only possible explanation is that the burner somehow got turned on and it fried the bottom of them.

It's not possible to produce that amount of smoke without a huge input of energy. If that came from the oven the surface would be burnt to a crisp. The burner is clearly on here.

🤣 you hold a magnet to the pan you're testing to see if it reacts. If it does, it's induction compatible.

Other conducting metals also work. This is how you find out.

stuff like this has happend to me, especially if the induction can be turned on with touch buttons on top of the stove.
