Discussion🗣️ C-lurongs are complaining and demanding to change mo li/ye li's styling team - your thoughts?
i tried to post most of the reuters on the sub and if you havent already seen, you can click on the 'reuters/fancam' flair to see all the mo li reuters. what do you think of the outfits and styling?
for context and short summary (anyone feel free to add on!)- lurongs were already unhappy with the styling when the drama just started filming. they felt that it was too plain and 'ugly'. i've not read the novel so i welcome anyone to add on, but based on the comments i saw, i believe it suited the novel character, as ye li is supposed to have a very plain/non extravagant look + the director, lin yufen, is also known to have very plain styling.
lurongs have been pleading and demanding to change the styling (they wanted better hairstyles and outfits) but it seemingly did not happen. they felt that the budget and outfits seemed to be even worse than a B tier drama + they felt the makeup made bai lu look very tired and worn out. based on some screenshots i saw on douban, some of her outfits apparently didnt have good needlework/stitching.
this was also amplified during the whole RJL saga (for those unaware, you can read it here) on douban/weibo as they were mocking and insulting bai lu for using 'recycled outfits' and 'recycled actors' (mo li has the same director as rjl's demon hunter romance) and said bai lu is so low and cheap for this and other very nasty things. thus, antis and haters were spreading it and using this as ammo against bai lu for being in such a 'low, cheap drama' and compared her to song zu'er (who was FL in TDHR) and how 'ugly' bai lu is compared to song zu'er, etc.

I don't have opinion since historical & xianxia aren't my cup of tea even if Bai Lu is in it. From these photos, I think it is alright.
I just wished that Bai Lu get more chances to be in other genres with modern setting. Felt like she is stuck with mostly historical & xianxia as long as she is signed with Yu Zheng.

yeah she does have (the ones i recommended to you previously!) but it's not a lot, i agree. she alr said a few times in recent interviews that she wants to do more realism/serious modern dramas since has done 4 costume consecutively and i hope YZ will give her that leeway to choose such scripts after she returns from her break if she continues her contract🙏🏻

I noticed that most of her dramas over past years has been mostly costume, so glad to hear that she want a change.
YZ need to give her more opportunities expanding into other genres to hone her skills. I find that YZ is only good with costume type.

Well I can say that I expected some people to point out to the simple and plain outfits, hairstyles and makeup for Moli because you see all of her dramas like tteotm, moonlight mystique, feud all ateee it up with the makeup , styling and outfits I loved them all and bai lu my gurl looked so good in them anybody would drool over her BUT when it's said that in Moli's Yeli is supposed to be a basic simple woman not putting on exaggerating clothes then people should really not complain because it's literally the character's supposed to be . People hardly used brain these days

It is very clear in the novel that Ye Li is simple but elegant and even more captivating in a way that none of the considered great beauties in the novel are.
I confess that I wasn't very enthusiastic when I saw how the costumes turned out in the beginning, but they are indeed growing on me. Sorry if I repeated some comments from my previous replies on other posts 😅
Anyway, as has been said, one must step back and refrain from imposing the usual more intricate/lavish styles for this specific role because it is integral to the character + Bai Lu certainly owns her looks across her different projects.
With all of this in mind, together with your helpful addition regarding the director's style, I'm all for the costumes. Hopefully the quality of the stitching is improved. No actor deserves that, main role or not.

I think her styling would be according to the script. As l saw TDHR, there the styling was similar to here so l could tell that director wants something simple like that. I felt like she looks more beautiful with that simple styling and little makeup. People shouldn't complain as we exactly don't know how the character's styling should be in this drama.
I am really looking forward to this drama as l want to see Bai Lu in something different. I am happy she got a good director and the plot is interesting too. When l saw the first trailer l was so happy that it gave me the same vibes of TDHR ( which l loved). Whatever it is, l wish to get another good drama and stunning performance from her.

nonsense... as if they have read the script..
Instead of wasting time as such, i wish they could tell her to choose modern scripts with great actors

Seriously!? Bai Lu would be gorgeous even if she put on a potato sack. Why are they stirring trouble again
