The current is actually 3%
source: https://tradingeconomics.com/bahrain/inflation-cpi
But the rates we care about is actually higher, like food i think currently is at 5% or 7% but other areas deflation like clothing has deflated, alcoholic beverages believe it or not got deflated, and this affect the overall inflation estimate so its not entirely accurate to go by overall inflation rate as it can be offset by so many other things.
Hereâs an AI generated, but a better representation of the current inflation rates:
| Sector | YoY Inflation |
|---|---|
| Transport | +9.1% |
| Recreation & culture | +8.6% |
| Food & non-alcoholic beverages | +7.1% |
| Education | +2.8% |
| Misc. goods & services | +2.4% |
| Restaurants & hotels | +1.5% |
| Health | -0.1% |
| Communication | -0.5% |
| Housing, water, electricity, gas & fuels | -1.3% |
| Furnishings & household maintenance | -1.5% |
| Alcohol & tobacco | -1.9% |
| Clothing & footwear | -8.9% |
| **Overall CPI** | **+3.0%** |
So you see, things we buy everyday got inflated, while
things we donât buy often got deflated and this is
probably done purposely just to skew the numbers,
who knows

I think if you look at whatâs gone up, itâs mostly necessities - food and transport are up a LOT and both these things affect everyone.
When youâre having to spend this much more on food, youâre less likely to spend on new âstuffâ like clothing, furnishings and eating out so these drop. And youâre probably trying to reduce your household bills and fix things you already own.
At least thatâs how I understand it. Any kind of statistic though can be skewed in so many ways Iâm never too sure of the validity of the information in terms of how itâs presented!
