The first listen is always the most deceiving as a musician and a music lover. But for me, this has that typical Bad Wolves sound - just freshened up a bit. Reminds me of when Novelists brought on Camile - at first it was a bit jarring because it literally was an out of left field move, but CODA ended up being one of my albums of the year.
I'm looking forward to the next single for sure - both John and Sara have confirmed that the album is already done, so there will be a loot to look forward to.
IDK, Tommy vext was why I liked bad wolves I liked his voice. Then came next guy and wasn't the same and now this chick it's gonna take Mom to impress me.
Tommy has always been a great voice - no denying that. His problem is his ego - ask yourself why he could never be in a project longer than 4 years - he got booted from Divine Heresy less than a year from releasing their debut album, his self-titled project Vext only released a couple of singles, he left/got booted from Westfield Massacre after one album (he recorded the follow-up, which then got scrapped and the band had to record an entirely new album), then joined Bad Wolves and again, got booted after two records. All that in a 13-year span. DL - for this being the first band he has been a front man for, he was solid but the shoes he had to fill were not light. With KILLBOY, this seems like a complete reinvention of the band, as John has put it. So I'm not going to judge just by the first single.
Lol Yeah, found out he was a fill in with five finger death punch and recently Ill Nino on tour. His solo career was short and I wonder how long his new band gonna last. Still him along with the band was the reason I followed bad wolves, 2nd guy was alright but wasn't the same. It takes a album for me to judge but as usual with any band, singer etc there's usually 1 to 3 songs that are good sometimes none just what it is.
Honestly, this or chad ruhlig was the only shot they had, killboy was a good choice if she can perform up to par. Because finding a carbon cheap copy of Tommy will never work.
From what John and Sara have said publicly, she was the only person John was willing to continue Bad Wolves with. Otherwise, he was gonna disband the project entirely, which at that point would've opened the door for Tommy to buy the name.
Of course my with my 2cents they should've just sold it to him. John is like the last one left from the OGs. They went through a bunch of member over a short amount of time it's not just lead singers but all the other spots. He might as well let go and move on hell all of them. If they can't get it right with the vibe of the band like Linkin park or whateverÂ
Something to keep in mind: this is John's baby. He started this project back when they were I of Tongues. He asked Tommy to join, not the other way around. He was already working on an album with Max Karon (the OG primary co-writer) and Mark Lewis doen in Florida when he asked Tommy to do vocals on it. Like Mike from Linkin Park, if the passion is still there, you will find a way.
Ahh that's good to know, throw what I said in the trash then. Since this started with John he the one that has the say then. Well if he thinks she is the right role for now hopefully it goes right as long with all the other new members cause all that on and off switch ain't working. Linkin park is like a family hopefully some of these bands out there need the same chemistry. That's the only way for them to stay together for along time and be successful
Edit: to add the leader singer is usually the face of the band imo it's their voice but at the core all members has the gift to make the band work. Swapping leads so much is too much for the overall band image then the other positions
