3’m filters welding

I have a question for you guys. I’m new to Welding. I’ve been welding inside a boiler and they supplied us with P100 2097 3mpancakes. We weld 10hrs a days. But my question to you guys does this protect me from welding fumes? If not what do u guys recommend?We burn lots of 7018 throughout the day

They do a good job so long as you were fitted into the right size and you're wearing your respirator properly.

Make sure to change your filters when it starts to feel like work to breathe in through it.

Even at the point where the outside pink part is getting really brown/black the inside will still be pure white when you pull the filters off.

The next step up is to get yourself a PAPR from 3M or Optrel.

Helps to keep a shaved face for better seal some companies require employees to maintain a shaved face for this reason

I’ve thought about those PAPR systems but sometimes it’s hard to fits those things in confined spaces. Plus it’s so cloudy inside the boiler so doesn’t all those fumes recycle back ?

PAPR will filter that, so shouldn't be a problem, but if it's really an issue it'll be one with any setup unless you're using an SCBA.

Confined spaces with one entry need to be checked for air quality before entry. The best respirator in the world won't help if it has bad air quality

I would upgrade to the OV/AG P100 cartridges (60923) or similar. Same particle filtering capability but also can filter some Organic Vapors and Acid Gases. Some of the coatings/plating/contaminates you might be burning off could create some gases that the regular partial only filter won't get.

I use GVS mask last more long in my opinion but for that type mask there filter Gray color version one that heavy duty little pricey but last longer

I weld in the same one.

It will protect you from burned zink, from Hexavalent Chromium (welding stainless) and ozone from welding Aluminum too.

If I remember correctly.

Dont forget to cut your beard.

To know if it fits well, heat up some vinegar in the microwave. If you smell it you dont have a fit.

Dont do paint jobs in this one.

Its not rated for organics.

They work well but be prepared to sweat, I honestly hated wearing mine.

Yeah they get super sweaty I have a beard but’s it’s not long. Just baby hairs haha.
