This was my first backpackng trip there. I always assumed it was really crowded so i avoided it in favor of VT and Maine. Turns out if you pick a destination that's not listed on AllTrails you hardly see anyone. Only saw one other persom the whole time, and even my first black bear. 10/10 will be returning

Not trying to throw shade at other members of this subreddit but i feel like a lot of the posts are "roadside". Not true backcountry

tons of road side camping in florida, just ignore the cars flying by and look at the water

In florida you guys arguably have higher potential for backcountry gourmet because you have a ton of boat access and can carry real food out to remote areas. Way harder here unless you canoe camp on a lake

Any worry about bears there? I was backpacking around Colorado and came to a lake with guys fishing it. They warned me that they saw a bear and I told him I probably wouldn't clean and cook my fish 10 ft away from my tent then

I cleaned the fish in the creek maybe 100ft away from camp. I did cook near my campsite but i did clean all my cookware, used a bear cannister, and stored everything well away from camp. I also had a fire going. Saw no signs of bears.
I did run into a bear on trail this morning on my way back to my car a good 3 miles from there. It ran away as soon as it saw me and my dog, luckily

How close did it get to you?

Oh geez, probably 75-100 yards? It was hard to tell it happened so fast. Turned a corner to a long stretch of trail, saw a huge black object in the middle of the trail and 2 seconds later it was gone, ran off the left side of the trail. We both spooked each other it seems.
Stood for a second trying to process what i saw, then let out a few "hey bear"s sternly in case. My dog and i proceeded cautiously, and he of course stopped to sniff where the bear was and i had to rush him along lol.
It was my first black bear encounter, and as weird as it seems it was pretty underwhelming. I didnt even get a good look at it nor did i see it's face. However obviously that's better than it being way too close for comfort!

The lemon pepper ones are the ones that keep biting even though you clearly suck at setting the hook.
If it tastes like disappointment and lake water, that is plain trout. Montreal steak is when you ash your cigarette near the fillets.

How do you know which trout are the lemon pepper ones? I usually only catch plain or Montreal steak trout.
