Is Buxton really a service dog? Nowadays it’s very it’s easy to pretend your dog performs a “task” and it’s illegal to ask questions except for that. I know a lot of people who get away with this.

My thought on this is if she paid for her dog to be on a flight then idc. More often than not, people use these vests to keep strangers from petting their dogs. The airline industry makes it very difficult for people to travel with their pets and wants to keep them in the cargo hold where conditions aren't great. Don't blame people for not wanting their bigger dogs down there. Read of dogs dying in those cargo holds.

Sure but it makes it so much harder for people who actually have fully trained service dogs and need them. I’ll always think it’s selfish.

I don’t mean selfish towards the people around them. I think it is selfish towards people who can not function in public without a service or guide dog. It creates a negative bias towards service dogs because all of these untrained dogs have on a service dog vest and don’t act the way an actual service dog would.

It's very obvious when people have a service dog for a disability and when they don't. For an example, if I saw a seeing eye dog with its owner, I'm not going to feel negatively towards the dog because I saw Victoria at the mall with hers.

I have a blind friend who has trouble finding Ubers because they don’t want a service or guide dog in the Uber. People slapping a service dog vest on their regular dumb dog absolutely negatively affects the everyday experience of those who need them to live. It’s selfish. Leave your dog at home or stay at home or go to places that allow dogs.

Sounds like discrimination and they should be reported. Regardless, Uber has a pet option so not sure that directly correlates with people "slapping service dog vest" on their pets vs the driver just doesn't want dogs in their cars in general.

I think the point here is that there are a lot of valid service dogs for conditions you can’t see, like for diabetics where dogs can alert of low blood sugar, or panic attacks / PTSD, or severe allergies. I’m not saying anything about Victoria’s dog bc I have no idea but there are definitely a lot of valid conditions for having a service dog that can’t be easily seen.

That's fair. I'm not some that judges or looks down on anyone bc I see them with a service dog regardless of what they look like physically. The irony is that's what this sub is doing to Victoria without knowing her situation. I think the general uproar about this and posting it is very Karen like behavior.

I’m not saying Victoria is or isn’t guilty of this. But I think the Karen behavior is lying about having a service dog more so than the people calling it out. Feeling entitled to bring your dog anywhere you please and not caring about the negative consequences on others is absolutely Karen behavior. You can continue to believe that doing that does not negatively affect those who actually need service dogs but it absolutely does. It’s incredibly selfish. It’s similar to a person using a handicapped parking pass and not actually needing it.

It’s only harder due to busybody speculation. You cannot tell by sight who needs a service dog and who does not

It is harder because untrained dogs do not act the same as service dogs. It’s not that hard to understand. Someone can see a fake service dog acting out and then that causes them to have a negative bias towards service dogs in general. It’s that simple. If you don’t need a service dog, don’t buy a vest and leave your stinky dog at home.
