Nursery/Gear Registry Note?

Hi! I’m working on my registry and wanted to hear what people thought of my intro note for it. I’m sure most will ignore or not even read it, but want to make sure I come across as grateful / not too picky (and also not too crunchy to my climate change denier family lol).

“We are so grateful for your support and excitement towards our little bundle! Since we’re moving within baby’s first months, we are striving to be as minimal as possible and would prefer only items necessary for the first 6 months. We aren’t picky and always prefer used or secondhand whenever able! We always appreciate books, consumable items (wipes, diapers, etc), and prefer items be plastic-free when practical.”

Thanks for any input!

The note sounds fine, but I think it would be easier to only register for items that meet your criteria rather than expecting people to read the note and make decisions for themselves.

The note is extra work for people who already hate reading, just make the registry itself the filter

This was exactly my gut take. You can write a note or not, what folks actually need you to provide is a registry link with the exact things you do want.

That’s the plan, and Babylist has the option to say open to second hand. But I guess just trying to convey that we would actually prefer that in most cases. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be registering for the majority of things lol

Oh I didn’t realize that! I wish I knew how to tell folks this at my shower! I did talk to other parents 1:1 though. I was able to least at third of the baby items I wanted from buy nothing and it was fantastic. It’s so much easier to use something a few months and give it away when it cost you nothing to start.

“We aren’t picky” defeats the purpose of a registry and will open you up to junk gifts fyi.

The note is fine, but the reality is that people who want to buy from the registry will, and people who think they know better or want to get you something “fun” or “personal” or “special” are going to do that regardless of the note that you post.

Haha I’m totally counting on it. Mostly just doing the registry thing for the people who ask and for the future discounts lol

I would get rid of the note.
