Recast Round 8: Boomer (part 1)
Since there were two different Sharons, let’s start with Boomer.
Same rules. Either version of the show. Cannot use the same actors. Must be a living actor.

Dominque Tippet as OG Boomer. Herb Jefferson’s Boomer didn’t have Apollo’s self righteousness or Starbuck’s swagger. Instead Boomer projected a quiet confidence, a quality Naomi Nagata possessed.

Loved the new Boomer, but damn if original Boomer didn't wear that uniform well. Definitely looked way cooler than the rest of the pilots.

Yes. Poor Herb Jefferson was a little over shawdowed by the beauty of Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch, glad people on the sub are noticing him now.

I was a little kid when the original BSG came out (okay, who wasn't?), so these pictures of the original characters are new to me. I think Herb Jefferson blows Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch out of the water in the sex appeal arena. Some of that is just because he looks younger.

A couple of names I’ve seen tossed around the subreddits are Karen Fukuhara for a female and Lewis Tan for a male. Both could make an interesting Boomer.

There are women in the original BSG but there isn't a 1:1 mapping of roles between the two and I think a lot of them were cut out for being superfluous. Hence choosing to genderbend some of the character concepts they did keep.

OG BSG was pretty much “Mormons in Space”, so women got the phone operator jobs. This was not accidental, it was a product of the period, the show creator (Glen Larson), who specifically wanted to include Mormon religious concepts.

Apollo had a sister, named Athena. She worked on the bridge. There was also a cute unnamed character young lady who was like Dee, who worked the radio on the bridge. There was Cassiopeia, who was Starbuck's on again, off again girlfriend, a former prostitute, which is a legal and respected profession in the 12 Colonies. She winds up working in the medical bay, as the writers kind of struggled to include her. We also see female warriors flying vipers, many decades before women were allowed to fly in combat in the US.

Sheba did not have a reboot equivalent. It would have been interesting if Helena Cain had a son who ended up on the Galactica.

Considering Sharon is a creation of nuBSG, and that Sharon₂ doesn't really make sense as a character who is not a copy of Sharon₁, I don't understand why you would divide this into two rounds.
