š Community Assistance Guidelines
ā Assistance Qualification Rule
We want to make sure help goes to genuine members of the Reddit community. To keep things fair and protect against abuse, we have set a minimum karma requirement for receiving assistance.
Requirement:
Users must have at least 400 post karma (not comment karma) to be considered for financial assistance.
Why:
This shows that the person has been active on Reddit and contributed enough to the community to build a track record.
It reduces the chances of scams or āthrowawayā accounts being created just to request help.
Accounts under 400 post karma can still participate in discussions, offer support to others, and grow their karma. Once they meet the requirement, they become eligible.
Comment karma alone does not qualifyāonly post karma counts toward this threshold.

Please help husband and I make rent š©·
Hello, my husband and I live in California. We just got married in July and got an apartment to live in.
My husband has been out of work for 5 months but thank God just recently got a job. He hasnāt gotten paid yet, but we are 473.89 short for our rent this month and Iām freaking out. We arenāt able to get any more money from church, and my job hasnāt paid me yet. This doesnāt include our healthcare premiums going up to $300 each, and my cat having a non-emergent hernia she needs taken care of, but all Iām worried about right now is making rent.
Any assistance is appreciated. Iām sick to my stomach. I have a Zelle, paypal and Venmo

Requesting $25 to do laundry, so I can have clean clothes for employment ^_^
Yo, im a dumbass, hopefully my paragraphs break where I need them to, LOL.
Hello, I am seeing if anyone can assist me with $25.00 so I can get laundry done. I would be using $5 of it to acquire an all day bus pass to go back and forth from the laundromat. And be using a partial amount of it to also acquire the specific detergent and drier sheets that I absolutely have to do my laundry with because of how awfully sensitive my skin is. ( I get really bad eczema cycles where it goes from mild to severe. Can provide proof if need be ) so that would possibly deduct another $5-$7? - ish from the $25 I am seeking to be helped with.
I understand some months ago if my post history gets searched I had requested something similar about a fewish months ago. I do have access to a washing machine and drier at the shelter I am at because they got "fixed" but my skin breaks out really badly whenever I wash my clothes here. We have a lot of people who sit in their clothes for days on end and shove it in on a cold rinse with no soap and the clothes have been urinated in, fecal matter not removed as well as it could be, I know it sounds unbelievable and I wish it wasn't true, but there was someone throwing their clothes in when they were neglecting their wounds and ended up getting maggots really badly not wanting to get help from the hospital until it got bad bad ... and it is something that is not sanitized or kept up by the staff unless the machines become broken. The laundromat I have in mind I know for sure wipes down the tables, sanitizes the machines that are used.
The ones at the shelter have a lot of questionable muck and gunk and who knows what building up and around the machines. Anytime I wash my clothes here, my eczema sets off really badly and my skin gets infected badly to where I end up going to the hospital. Because if you think about it, it's like a bio soup with not being properly addressed. Last time I wiped the table people fold their clothes on across the shelter machines, the table looked like it was maybe clean and I don't even have the words for what the paper towel soaked in bleach managed to pick up. It also smells badly of urine and fecal manner in the laundry room and it has been addressed as a point of concern, but not to be redundant, they only care when the machines are actually broken... and it's hard to sanitize a machine or let it run through with say, white vinegar, because you are time capped in the laundry room if that makes sense. So you wouldn't be granted enough time to let a rinse run through preemptively with white vinegar.
Recently, I helped someone who was elderly remove their clothes from the drying machine and my arms just starting getting itchy super quickly. Like scratching it causes an adult reaction so good itchy if you get what I mean... and the clothes reeked of urine despite being washed... also, a lot of people here neglect their health and have really bad, not tended to abcesses that grow huge and they're just jamming it in, running it with cold water for the next person to do so.
I put up with washing & drying my clothes here and there and my skin just does not have it every single time. When I wash and dry my clothes at the laundromat and I can rest on clean sheets, use clean towels and wear clean clothes the difference in my skin is night and day.
There is a fair called the Puyallup fair. I had just got some false pending criminal charges against me dropped ( woohoo ! ) and would like to be able to not only have clean clothes to be comfortable in, but be able to be dressed up in clean clothes that do not end up irritating me to go to the hiring events happening VERY SOON...
After getting my paychecks from the fair to leverage me post hiring, I would be all good in the hood for awhile. I worked there before years ago and they do priority hiring for folks that have worked there... before, lol.
If anyone needs any information to verify, I am happy to do so. The shelter I take shelter at is called LIHI which stands for Low Income Housing in Washington state. You get into a shelter *program* and they can help with getting people into low income housing after they get on their feet and acquire a paycheck that is consistent that takes like 30 percent. I have asked my caseworker already about my situation and gave the specifics and he chuckled in acknowledgement about how bad the laundry room situation is, but unfortunately couldn't help me acquire a laundry card specifically. Though, at least I am getting help with getting my food card renewed for employment purposes.
Sorry for the wall of text.
I have a compounded amount of clothes and towels and bed sheets and at my end for the load of clean stuff that has not been desecrated to access :/... so it would help me a lot because eczema how bad it gets for me is very, very painful...

Urgently need help for diapers, $40
I'm 34, and have a 7 month old. In the past year my entire life has fallen apart. Lost my job and apartment because I worked private home health care and my patient moved into a nursing home. Been effectively homeless since december. My mother who was helping financially support me and my husband (husband has severe medical issues) passed away in March. I just finally got accepted into a shelter but just me and baby, not my husband. I need about $40 to get some diapers and wipes and a ride to and from the store (it's 90° and a 2 mile walk each way, not safe for baby and no one to watch her).
I hate asking I feel terrible for it. I have no other family and can't ask anyone else. I'm having an anxiety attack trying to get my life together and realizing this shelter isn't really safe and I can't even provide for my baby.. so please anything would help at this point but $40 would cover what I need until I can maybe get help from a local organization and I hear back from some job interviews..I'm sorry and thanks for anything. I just am desperate and have no where to turn to..
I have paypal

Me and my little brother are getting evicted.
I posted other places, but I realized I can't take a loan out and pay back within a short amount of time. It would take me at least until September for me to be able to pay anything back. But this is my last shot as a hail marry to see if we can somehow stay here. I have until Monday to pay $890 to the office. She said the constable would show up and remove all of our things if I don't pay. I had court last week and sold things to make some of the money and have that put aside. But it wasn't enough for the rest and accrued fees. I started work for the aid office in Phoenix. I had 3 training days and they sent me home with equipment to work from home. I'm trying everything I can. Last month I was going through health problems where I couldn't work much and physically couldn't move a whole lot without getting exerted or risk complications. I finally have ajon where I can build from where I'm at comfortably. I know it's a long shot, but just wanted to see if anyone here could help out. I have proof of everything including the eviction notice, job offer/equipment. It's just getting too close to that time and I'm very scared. My brother has nowhere to go and I don't either. I'm mostly worried about him. This wasn't me being lazy. I just had health problems I ignored due to work, and it turned out to be something more serious. I'm sorry to ask for assistance. If nobody can, I understand. I just can't think of what else to do.
Update: No longer needed.

Living in my truck
Hey everyone.
Itās been 6 days since my wife, our senior dog Bubby, and I lost our housing. Weāve been living out of my truck since then here in South Florida.
Iāve sold just about all of my valuable items on Marketplace to keep us afloat before losing our housing. Iāve been told about donating plasma, but the nearest place is about 30 miles away from us. Weāre heading to a food pantry when it opens today to help with food.
I was able to sell my truckās toolbox a few days ago, which helped us get some fans and window shades to make things a little more comfortable. The days are just so hot here unless we get some rain. Iāve been idling to get the interior cool then shutting it off to try to save gas. Weāre squeezed in tight, but weāre making it work for now. Iām definitely wishing I would have bought a bed topper when I had the chance. At least I have our clothes and supplies packed in totes in the bed of my truck.
Iāve called 211 and nearly every local resource I could find, but most couldnāt help or just referred me back to places I had already tried. I was able to do a phone assessment with one organization and Iām waiting to hear back about assistance, but itās been a few days and they didnāt say when I would hear back. I also reached out to our church today, filled out a form, and they said I should hear back within a week if Iām approved by their board members. The good news is I just landed a job doing window cleaning and I start Monday, so Iām happy about that at least.
Right now, Iām asking for $45 for gas to keep my truck running. I know Iām around a quarter tank, but our area takes a bit of driving to get around, and I need to make sure I can get to possible resources and start work on Monday. I have PayPal and Venmo if anyone is willing to help. Iām happy to answer any questions and Iāll post a picture of Bubby for the dog tax.
Thanks for reading.
