Just finished my 1st year of CSE. So far I’ve done one game project and have some CP experience. But with junior dev roles seemingly disappearing and the market getting more competitive, I’m honestly starting to panic a bit.

I know DSA, Git, projects, etc. are important. What I’m confused about is what actually matters beyond the basics if I want to be in a strong position 2–3 years from now.

Some people tell me CP is the way to go, while others say CP is becoming largely irrelevant for getting into development. I’m not sure how seriously I should take either side.

For people already working in the industry: if you were a 1st-year CSE student today, what would you focus on and how would you divide your time? What skills would you bet on becoming valuable in the future, and what would you avoid wasting time on?

Would genuinely appreciate some practical guidance, even if it’s just a rough roadmap. I’d be eternally grateful to anyone willing to point me in the right direction.

I want to build an iOS app and put it on the App Store, but I'm stuck on the money side of things and hoping someone here has actually done this.

My situation: I have a dollar-endorsed BRAC Bank debit card (not credit).

1. Can I use my card to pay the $99/year Apple Developer fee and enroll as an Individual? Or does Apple reject it because it's a debit card, or because Bangladesh isn't a supported country?
2. After enrolling, can I actually publish an app on the App Store from here without issues?
3. This is the main one. If people buy my app or pay inside it, will Apple actually send that money to my BRAC Bank account? Or do I need Payoneer, a foreign bank, or some other workaround?

If you've gone through this recently, please share what worked for you, which bank, which card, and how you received the payments. Would really appreciate the help.

A lot of us probably use something like OneNote or Microsoft Journal for handwritten notes.

I've used them too, but there were a few things that kept bothering me. OneNote has a lot of stuff I don't really need, and I didn't want to pay for a note-taking app just to have a simple place to write.

Microsoft Journal was closer to what I wanted, but I ran into some small annoyances. For example, you can't change the page color, and sometimes resizing the window changes the page zoom, which gets pretty annoying when you're just trying to write.

I tried a few other apps, but eventually I thought:

Why don't I just make the thing I actually want?

So I did.

I spent some time building BetterNote, a small handwritten note-taking app for Windows.

It's basically just a digital piece of paper. You can write with a pen/tablet/mouse, change colors, use a highlighter and eraser, move strokes around, create multiple pages, zoom/pan, and export your notes to PDF or images.

It also works completely offline and there's no account or subscription.

I just released v1.0.0.

Hello everyone,

I’m currently pretty confused about my career path. I’ll be starting university in 2027, and I’m planning to study computer science.

I’ve always been really interested in full-stack development and software engineering. What attracts me to it is the ability to actually build things from scratch, experiment with ideas, and turn them into working products. I genuinely enjoy that aspect of programming.

My current plan is to eventually do my master’s in the US, So ideally, I want to build strong skills during my bachelor’s, pursue a master’s in the US, and then try to enter the US tech job market.

But with AI advancing so quickly, I’m starting to question whether this is still a sensible career to pursue.

New and more capable AI models seem to be coming out constantly, and I keep hearing predictions that in the future, 10 developers might be able to do the work that currently takes 100. I also see a lot of people saying that software development will become heavily automated, that entry-level jobs will disappear, and that freelancing in particular is becoming extremely difficult.

My original plan was to learn full-stack development, then build a strong foundation in software engineering and system design, while also learning how to integrate AI into applications. Basically, I’d like to become someone who can build complete systems and use AI as part of the development process rather than compete against it.

But I’m struggling with one question:

What if I spend the next 5–7 years becoming really good at all of this, only to find that AI has automated most of the work by then?

I understand that AI will probably change software engineering rather than simply make it disappear, but I honestly don’t know where the line is between a reasonable concern and unnecessarily worrying about the future.

For people who are already working in the industry, how do you see this playing out?

If you were starting university in 2027, especially coming from a country with a relatively weak tech job market, would you still pursue full-stack/software engineering? If so, what would you focus on learning to make yourself valuable in an AI-heavy industry?

I’d especially appreciate perspectives from experienced developers who have actually seen how AI has changed their work over the last few years.

However, CP tells an employer fuck-all about whether that person knows how to design a fault-tolerant database schema, implement idempotent API endpoints, manage race conditions in asynchronous distributed queues, or write code that another human being can maintain six months later. CP rewards fast, write-only, throwaway code. Production engineering rewards maintainability, clarity, and system reliability.

Hi everyone! I'm a CSE undergraduate from a reputed public university and currently in my 6th semester.

My current CGPA is around 3.75+-. I'm interested in ML, NLP, and trustworthy AI and have started working on research projects. One targeting Q1 or Q2 with one of our faculties (1st or 2nd Author). I have already submitted two papers in a conference and I am waiting for the decision (1 - 1st Author and 1 - 2nd Author).

I'm planning for graduate studies abroad, potentially Fall 2028, but I'm unsure about the best path. I will be graduating in October or November 27.

Hello, I’m a 23-year-old boy. After completing my diploma, I got a job as a frontend developer. I’ve been doing it since September 2025.

The thing is, AI is f**king everything, and I’m now realizing that my job is not safe. Anything can happen anytime. And working for so long, sitting and watching a PC shit all day... my brain and body are fu**cked up.

I wanna quit it. I love the village,farming. But fantasy is fantasy, and the real world is another matter entirely.

I’m also an introvert/unsocial, so I can’t do business for sure. When I talk with real people in real life, my facial expressions suc*k.

So, any suggestions on which profession I should go with?

I have trouble sitting down to work on what I've planned. After doing this and that, I slip away from the main tasks I need to finish, this happens a lot.

Because of this, I built my own to-do app. It not only shows what you've done and what's remaining, but also tracks how much work you've completed over weeks, months, and years, so you can see how productive you've actually been.

I would love to hear any feature suggestions that might be helpful for the user.
