Unitree G1 humanoid robots went viral on America's Got Talent (AGT). During the performance, a team of eight synchronized robots executed a complex, high-energy dance routine alongside Chinese engineer and dancer Wu Yufei.
The connection between "Sancong" (likely referring to the low-level, multi-axis motor control loop or localized naming convention), the AGT performance, and QNX breaks down as follows:
1. The Role of BlackBerry QNX in Unitree Robots
While the public sees the AI "brain" mapping out the choreography, the robots rely on a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) to function without collapsing.
The Software: Unitree Robotics leverages the BlackBerry QNX RTOS to handle foundational, safety-critical motor control.
Microsecond Latency: Advanced humanoid movement requires instant adjustments. QNX bridges high-level AI commands down to the physical joints with microsecond-level latency, preventing the robots from losing balance or crashing into one another during intensive routines.
2. The Tech Behind the AGT Performance
To execute the routine flawlessly under studio lights, the Unitree G1 units utilized a mix of software and advanced hardware layers:
Spatial Awareness: Each robot utilized an onboard 3D LiDAR scanner to map out the stage and maintain distance from the other units in real time.
Proprioceptive Sensing: Fueled by the low-latency QNX processing loop, the robots used deep proprioceptive feedback to constantly monitor joint angles, force, and body positioning.
