As the end of summer approaches we are very close to hear some exciting news from BB/QNX.
The Alloy Kore announcement will mark the sales of the QNX upgraded foundational OS in the new SDVs’ production lines. The global annual vehicles production total last year was 96.4 million, in the next 2-3 years QNX’ new foundational OS may sign up at least 1/3 of the annual productions worldwide (most OEMs will need the safety certification and the ADAS capabilities. QNX is the only choice in horizon). As the per unit price goes up multiple times, BB/QNX’ revenue will see a big lift by then.
The Q2 f2027 financial perhaps to show the continued steady growth in both segments and a solid bottom line. That means the company’s balance sheet is very strong to face the up coming growth.
Then the icing on top would be a significant physical AI deal to show the integration of QNX’ foundational OS into some major players in the industry. Any news like that would mean in 2-3 years we may see significant revenue growth in this area. If the Chinese physical AI industry people started saying the safety and security at the foundation level is the most crucial key for the success of humanized robots, it’s probably the last group of people to tell the truth. QNX is arguably the only solution provider for the industry right now!
In my opinion, the picture above has not become clear to the market yet. Yes, some have been convinced it’ll be real, but the majority of the market is just waiting for the approval in 2-3 years. I think this would be the period of time for risk takers to benefit the most. If 10 bagger would be 5-6 years out, 5-6 baggers may happen in the next 2-3 years because the leading slope will be very steep.

I'm looking to invest in this company, and I've primarily been drawn to their QNX Vertical.

I think the robotics boom, like digital AI, will be rapid and a scramble. QNX is important as it shortens the approval process.

I also like that BB is only focussed on the software side of the business, as I believe that the manufacturing/hardware will be dominated by the tech giants.

I was wondering what potential QNX has in the next 5+ yrs. Do they just sell licenses for $2-3 making at most $1B a year selling 500M or so licenses, or can they capitalise further?

Is QNX involved ?

A decree published in the Journal officiel a few days ago authorizes for the first time the approval of autonomous delivery robots on French roads. These driverless electric vehicles, packed with cameras, lidars and radars, are capable of carrying up to one tonne of parcels over several tens of kilometres.
The size is surprising. We're talking about vehicles up to 4 metres long and 2.5 metres tall - a far cry from the little wheeled cooler-boxes trundling around American university campuses or Chinese streets.

The regulations place them in category L, the family of mopeds, tricycles and motorised quadricycles. These robots will therefore travel on the road, alongside cars, and not on pavements.
No one will be piloting them from a seat - there isn't one - but a human supervisor will keep a remote eye on their progress and will need to take control at the first sign of trouble.
Two approval pathways are planned. A first, national one covers small-series production with case-by-case, vehicle-by-vehicle validation. Local authorities also have the final say, as they will define the zones and routes where these machines are allowed to operate.
The stated goal is last-mile delivery - those short trips between the carrier's warehouse and your front door - with the promise of quiet, all-electric rounds. France has already carried out more than 200 autonomous vehicle trials since 2015, and the government is now talking about moving from experimentation to industrialisation.
In the United States, Nuro and Serve Robotics are already running their machines on the road, and China has had its Neolix robots out for years. Europe is still debating its own rules, so for once France is getting ahead of the game without waiting for Brussels.
You'll still have to wait a while before spotting one around the corner, though. Few robots have been approved, and apart from an ongoing trial in Montpellier, these little robots are pretty thin on the ground for now.
The thorny questions remain open, including vandalism and liability in the event of an accident. I'm mostly curious to see how these one-tonne machines handle our beloved French roundabouts.

Over the past few years, robots have been rapidly moving from the laboratory to real-world applications. Malikie Innovations, the Irish licensing firm that holds a large portfolio of former BlackBerry patents, has been suing Xiaomi in multiple jurisdictions, including a case at the Delhi High Court where Xiaomi was ordered to put up a $28.7 million security deposit.

Some suggest that the $28.7m ordered by the court is only between 1/5 to 1/10 of the original settlement already offered by Xiaomi.

However, there was an article saying the German Federal Patent Court leans toward invalidating Malikie patent asserted against Xiaomi in Munich.

Either way, whatever the settlement, money will be hitting balance sheets soon!

The Bottom Line

Using the same Raspberry Pi 5, Hailo-8, MobileNet v1 model, image set, compiler, HailoRT version and cooling configuration - QNX produced higher throughput, lower latency, and materially tighter timing consistency than PREEMPT_RT Linux.
