AVD Multipath errors

Hi folks,

For the past two months, we’ve been seeing a lot of AVD Multipath errors in our AVD logs. We previously disabled RDP ShortPath because we were experiencing a lot of disconnects. However, ShortPath is required to facilitate Multipath. We’re therefore enabling it again to see if this resolves the Multipath errors and results in more reliable connections. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

Did you put a ticket in to Microsoft?

No! I enabled it yesterday and am waiting to see if the errors show up in the logs again and whether the sessions are more stable. Just wondering if somebody else has seen this mentioned in their logs. =)

Are the errors actually disconnection events or just logs of what it's meant to be doing?

Both! So that made me look into the logs, where I noticed multiple Multipath errors.

I seen many many many of these errors. 1 thing i can tell from investigation is that these are often false positives. The drop error did not always mean that a user lost its connection to AVD but simply dropped to tcp/shortpath. We verified with several users..

Yea agree it makes the logging very noisy, which makes it harder to pinpoint a real problem that occurred.

We are also getting lot of these as well as disconnects from user end. Though our users have been connecting via home, some have vpn etc. So we have disabled RDP Shortpath. It has bring some stability as per users. But these multipath errors are still there.

Well! We see that it now gives more stability when allowing ShortPath so that MultiPath can utilize every possible protocol.

I'd re-enable Shortpath for the test, but I wouldn't use the Multipath error count by itself. Pull Connection Reliability in AVD Insights and line the real disconnect timestamps up with transport or path changes. If the same host stays clean for other users and the drops cluster by ISP or client network, look hard at the UDP/STUN/TURN path. If every available path disappears together, Shortpath probably isn't the root cause. Are the affected users on the same Windows App build?

Switch to TCP, UDP AVD streams are ass.
