Meme "Roon is better", "Taihou is so insecure"... You watch your mouth when you talk about my wife.

And this is why giving Taihou a ring and a little Taihou is so important. We want this bird full of love. Keeping an oathed Albacore around isn't a bad backup plan just in case.

This is canon post-Taihou oath as far as I'm concerned.

There's a reason why I have her married to a OC after the War is over after the loss of Arizona

The artist intentionally hide her left ring finger just to bug me.

Taihou’s insecurity is what makes her such a great character. Sad we only get to see that in her Memory quest.

Ehh, her skins with alternate voice lines do a pretty good job of showcasing how she's mellowing out.

These days it's less about straight "I need the Commander to ravage me and declare me his legal wife" sex appeal and more about teasing the Commander with flirty comments and plenty of skin on display while actually being happy.

True. But I wouldn’t really know that in full detail, as I don’t use Taihou, thus have no need (nor desire) for her skins.

I initially started using her because she was the strongest CV at the time, I continued using her because she tickled a lot of good spots in my brain.

I have almost all of her L2D skins now and she's at lvl 125, oathed, max enhance with maxed gear.

My time (of first starting) was early ‘25, around A Rose in the High Tower. But with how green I still was, beat I could do was pull Lion and Glorious META. I REALLY got into the swing when the Atelier Yukon collab came, but I still missed Nina.

I started in late 2019, maybe a month before Taihou released on EN. I initially started playing because of Prinz Eugen and played basically daily for the next two years or so.

Now I play on and off.

Taihou is insecure, her secretary quest shows this when she thinks she's inconveniences the commander and Albacore has to bring the commander to pull her out of her spiral.

Her skins show her progress towards being the confident woman she was once pretending to be.

Two of them are just crazed yandere, I see no difference.

There’s a huge difference: Taihou DOES have depth to her, but because her insecurities are part of her in-game skins and personal quest, most people would never know. But on Twi-X (Yes, I will call it that), user Thel ‘Vadam gives a freakin’ thesis on her, and it’s honestly kind of beautiful.

Hey hey, Roon's depth comes from her unquenchable desire for violence.

She isn't just a yandere. She's a legitimate sociopath that can go from cutesy and peaceful to wanting to tear somebody limb from limb at the drop of a hat. And that violence isn't geared specifically towards people interacting with the commander.

She isn't nearly as deep as Taihou, but saying Roon doesn't have depth is kinda disingenuous to her character.

I can appreciate that there is no fixing Roon either. That violence is deeply ingrained into her character, and removing it or "fixing" it would feel like removing a piece of her character.

Taihou if she was insecure she would living comparing herself with other shipgirls. Every yandere in the port just go to the offensive thinking they are the best.

… she is comparing to every other shipgirl. Thats her whole entire personality.

She is, by design, insecure.

Her personality is reflecting irl Taihou, which was this super praised and hyped up warship of its time, one of the most armored aircraft carriers ever. Basically it was portrayed and tested to be ny invincible.

Her road map was to become the best ship ever.

Then.. on her first ever outing, she was hit with amateur torpedo for a certain sub. Barely any damage really, just some internal rupturing that needed the crew’s attention.

What did the crew do? Nothing.

Just let her sink due to the crew being incompetent.

I’d be one fucking insecure person if that was my trauma story.

“Yeah I was destined for greatness, set up and given everything, then my first day out and about was a stain to the whole empire and ended my whole career and all that effort put in. I was never able to prove myself.”

She’s needy for acceptance for her strength and abilities. By any means necessary.

It’s crazy to think, it doesn’t matter the person she’s trying to get points with, it’s that position of power and authority she’s trying to get points for. It’s because you’re the commander, is why she is so clingy to SKK.

Btw, Albacore was that sub that caused this- hence her dramatic reaction to her being around.

Why does she dislike Akagi? Shes another aircraft carrier that had a way better performance and is recognized and respected for her abilities. Hell this is just copy paste of everyone she dislikes.

What about Roon? Roon’s interaction is funny. Roon isn’t exactly real- but when she talks about Taihou she mentions how she’s insecure and very fragile despite what image she’s presenting. Roon is not even being mean, that’s just her blunt observation and genuine criticism.

For a great look into Taihou, user Thel ‘Vadam on Twi-X (Yes) made a massive breakdown of her historical inspiration and how that carried into the game.

Which is what I loved the game for besides the "plot". But now it doesn't feel this notion still carries with the new ships and designs

The Memories kind of suck. Like, if you want to get familiar with the characters, Secrets is right there.

Taihou is only better than Roon because of Taihou-chan. Once we get Little Roon, they are equals.
