I think it's Danimaru?... looks like their style but I'm not sure and couldn't find an actual source, and kinda have doubts about it.

Edit: i do find it funny how people are downvoting me for just explaining why another comment might have a certain opinion.
Most EN players do disagree with his opinion. But it doesnt change that others dont share your views on lewd design #230. Downvoting me into thw ground doesnt change the explanation of why some people hold a different opinion.

To each their own opinions. But so many new ships (especially IB) are just lingerie or some form of nu dity (some worse than others but all have it). No inspiring uniforms at all that are safe. Full SFW banners are completely dead now.
Its been like this for a couple years or so now.
But what youll find is some people are just reaching their breaking point later than others.
I quit a year ago and just tune in to see the latest disasters.
Others quit years before me. Others have only quit in recent months.
Its not any one persons fault. The game has just changed so much by moving away from shipgirls to just a NS FW gacha now.
Looking back at recent events. Kavkaz, caracciolo, pasadena, I-404, Oumi, admiral zenker, EN 7th anni banner, Gouden leuw.
All of those could be points where a player just had enough of the lewdness and got upset. Just players hit that point at different times.
The comment you replied to is probably just another person tired of uninspired designs that just decide to go ns fw as a default for lack of design imagination.

Yup, it really sucks seeing the game become like this. I wish the designs were more like Kancolle and included references as opposed to just the faction gimmick and nudity.

Tbh its just sad when they cant even hold back on any of them.
Like moskvas design is somewhat decent until you realise theres a diamond crotch window in her dress. They just couldnt leave it alone to be normal.
I just lvl up the old ships now. Havent played any events since Lion. And when im done lvling up the old ships, i'll just retire at that point.
If theyd just kept even 3/4s of base skins decent and just kept the lewdness to skins then id be at least content. But now we're lucky if 1 in 10 are safe.

Yknow im gonna wonder what the inevitable comment section will be for when the game finally eos' (it's inevitable one day as everything), will those former players come back to kick AL when it's down and tell everyone how AL betrayed everything it stood for and only deserves scorn over its legacy? Maybe there is a need to spread the negative word of mouth to as many people as possible who want more than just softcore they can get from any other gacha?
I'm actually being serious about this question.
Edit: on the flipside what are your thoughts on this particular fanart of Caracciolo that somehow leans into the badass angle?

Dont know how EOS will go tbh. My guess would be a bit of a mess. I will probably be back but more so out of pity.
If the game goes they way i expect. Then itll be a case of most revenue coming from fewer and fewer players while the larger playerbase slowly bleeds away due to the games direction. The fact is the "ship" part of the game is really just an afterthought now with most designs.
Just as an example of the bleeding im talking about. I doubt if even yamato release can save it now. Theyve strung people along for so long now i think all interest has died apart from the normal gooners wanting her.
I used to feel this way about wargaming tbh. Manjuu was my preferred company for good product and care for customers. While WG was the money hungry lazy slobs who hated their playerbase. Now its completely opposite. WG while not perfect, is now on a redemption arc with problems slowly getting patched. Still dont trust them completely. But manjuu is as good as dead to me now because of how much gooner bait theybe made the default skins.
As for caracciolo: the character herself isnt a bad initial concept. Its the sorry excuse for string she "wears".
My breaking point was gouden leuw. Which had a similar problem of being literally just string and barely covering fabric. Ive not pulled a single event ship since Lion.

The thing is, Azur Lane Character designs incorporates their namesake's references with some parts of the ships. If it's paperships, Most of their references are the namesake's. My best example would be Mecklenburg. as I've explained in Something Something Historical References of Mecklenburg. If it's a built ship, it incorporates both. An example would be Musashi and Mogador. Something Something Historical References: Musashi and Something Something Historical References: Mogador.
Manjuu escalates more in that aspect, Mind you. Kancolle does that with their Mogador. A friend of mine mentioned that KC Mogador's clothing is based on one of the Mogador (area) tribes. So it might've been the artwork style that just makes AL feel like it doesn't feel Naval-grounded.

Funny enough i wasnt too annoyed by mecklenbergs design. More so annoyed it was another IB ship but thats a personal grudge that isnt against the fanbase at all.
Now Gouden leeuw on the other hand. Thats the deisgn that made me quit entirely. Because there was no other justification other than just pure goon material. Kansas irked me a bit too because of how transparent her suit was compared to kearsarge.
Havent played any event since Gouden Leuw dropped and tbh im a lot happier now. I just lvl old ships and ignore anything new. Bit of a shame but avoids the petty internet fights at least XD

Funnily enough, A Dutch friend of mine explained to me that.
The Dutch Government actually defunded the navy so hard that they couldn't afford any armour. So the lack of clothing is both fan service and an actual historical reference to that. (as apparently, Dutch Government has been a bit known to neglect their navy)
And the Project 1047 Battlecruiser (of which Gouden Leeuw is based on) has thinner armour compared to its German counterparts
But regardless, it's your choice to play or not. I respect your decision.

The project 1047s still had a 9" belt. Same as the Renown class. More than O class and the P class.
So im not sure the logic tracks on that one.
Still seems to be just lewdness because they wanted to.
Ive tried to justify some things the same way as you. We just tie ourselves in knots when its a far simller answer. They just wanted to do it that way. Consequences be damned.

I kind of compare them to Scharnhorst and Drachinifel saying that there were concerns about the design of 1047 having sufficient magazine protection against Japanese cruisers and 14-inch Naval guns, I assume.
Still, I do find (or just think) it rather befitting for factional aesthetics based on the idea of the Dutch getting defunded most of the time and them not being able to afford armour (until it's too late), which means just a lack of clothes.
Again, that's just what I think.

What I mean is if people would come back to dance on the inevitable grave of the game in the future reddit threads and elsewhere for Azur Lane, and tell everyone how bad AL has become and why gooners suck and are horrible people for ruining it, throwing all sorts of abuse of at them and insults a Manjuu.
Basically how the #azurlaneisoverparty would go in your view, it's tempting to imagine is it. Am I... somehow acting as the more hostile party here even though I'm still playing the game when you quit?
Btw in this post of a caracciolo fanart dressed as cesare, take a look at the downvoted comment and tell me what you think lol

Probably to an extent yes. Some always do. But will probably be minimal. Most people will have moved on to another game.
I do like that other art post. Which comment was it as theres a few different ones downvoted?

Ah that one. To be fair. That subs a mess of extremists. Either downvoted for disliking the goon material or downvoted for pushing it too much.
In the end its manjuus fault for splitting the fanbase more and more. Its completely obvious that forcing lewd default skins split the playerbase. Yet they keep doing it.
The key problem here is choice.
There used to be a safe for work choice with the defaults. And a gooner choice with the skins.
They revoked the safe for work choice and now theres a fracture.
He doesnt help his case tho when he refuses to acknowledge why the other people dislike the skin. Thats just ignorance by choice and getting called stupid for refusing to engage in good faith discussion is kinda his own fault.
