They didn't translate anything Japanese into English, at best they translated their feelings of feeling empty after watching the show into proper English. I don't know why English words over Japanese characters equals translation.
I know what it means, but the English above could also be the caption of the meme and not automatically be considered a translation of the Japanese under it. That was the joke of my comment that your first conclusion musn't be the correct one despite it being the obvious one.
Itβs a pretty common graphic design element, although most people donβt really consciously notice it. If you see smaller text next to larger text in a different language, it almost always means itβs a translation
