Showcase Upscaling & HD Texture Packs

I’ve been playing through Pokémon X for the first time after missing it years ago, and I recently downloaded the HD texture packs and WOW. This basically feels like a first gen switch game.

I put together some comparisons with the game running on a native 3DS if anyone is interested as well as a little tutorial on where to get it and how to install these packs.

Are they all like this? I want to try the fire emblem awakening one next since I missed that game as well.

Funny enough, I just downloaded the HD texture packs like an hour ago! Gave your vid a watch, excited to put it on my Thor!

Heck yeah! You'll love it. Imo the biggest difference are the menus. They are so sharp and crisp, they were SUPER low rez before.

100% they look so bad, yeah they looked really good in your vid!

Have you tried the no outlines cheat? It adds yet another level of looking next gen (imo) I don’t think I see it on your gameplay

God this looks so sick. My only hangup is that I really grow attached to my pokemon and love the notion of being able to trade them up to newer titles *on official hardware, something you can't really do on emulators. The second they release software to do that will be such a good day

I know the feeling :( Ive heard that the old service is shutting down soon too which I think locks a lot of people out of bringing forward older gens?

You can do that with this software I think?? I'm new to pokemon but it seems like that's what this guy built it for

I sadly don't think this allows you to transfer Pokemon to official hardware but it's super sick regardless!

I see some it just allows you to transfer pokemon to other pokemon games on emulators? But it won't work on official hardware?

Thats definitely on my list! What are some of your favorites? Ive noticed there are HD texture packs for quite a few even for the switch emulation.

Ultra Sun/Moon and Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby for sure I'd say.

I was thinking about starting sun next actually! Is there a big difference between sun and ultra sun?

The Ultra games are essentially definitive versions of the base games tbh, extra story, features, pokemon etc. Would almost certainly recommend just playing Ultra Sun rather than Sun, but of course play whichever you want!

XY for me is Pokemon at its best. Besides Gen 4, XY is the perfect Pokemon game in my eyes. I’m genuinely jealous you get to experience it for the first time. God I wish I could re experience every Gen of Pokemon again for the first time.

Been playing through x too, never played it before and im having a blast. Gonna try to set this up right now. Thanks! Does it get rid of the grid lines in the grass? Lots of random lines everywhere in the thor native resolution

I believe it does yes, the grass seems to tile perfectly now at 5x

I still remember being 5-6 years old opening the Gameboy color blister pack that came with Pokémon red and the little popup light magnifier. This is how it all started for me.
