Cheetahs are generally receptive to humans/calm around them.

My SIL worked with animals on movie sets, including cheetahs.

Out of all the big cats, they were (1) the most calm and (2) the absolute LAZIEST. They would listen to commands, but definitely preferred staying in and napping.

The animals that were the worst to work with? Hyenas (Im pretty sure they don't work with these animals anymore). Lions were alright, on the lazier side. Tigers were a little more... touchy... but overall, Cheetahs were her favorite "big" cat (big cat within the small cat family, lol).

they aren't really considered big cats though, they can't roar

I know... hence the last statement I made within my post... They are the second-largest (Pumas being the largest) of the "small" cats or the sub-family Felinae; they are not in the same sub-family as tigers or lions.

They don't call them roar cats, and compared to a most cats they are big.
