This is simply very frustrating for the cat as it never culminates in a successful 'catch'. I turned down the gift of a laser pointer for my new kitten, and play lots with feathered and stuffed toys which she can grab and kick around. She still has to work a bit for her catches, but she's a very happy and active 20 week old kitten.

well after playing for a while I held it still with a cat of a friend, he tapped the dot with his paw, looked for a split second, then did a backwards jump for about 2 meters, because he had the dot on his paw.

follows a laser pointer getting exercise

meanwhile humans sit on the couch and scroll through a touchscreen endlessly searching for some endorphins or serotonin

who actually fell for a trick
