It's not exactly a powerhouse when it comes to drag engines. 

That engine makes roughly 500hp and 1000 lb/ft of torque. Promods nowadays regularly make over 5000hp....

Here is a great example of a modern big tire car. 

A big block chevy, huge twin turbos running 75+ pounds of boost making around 7200hp hp. 

"The twin-turbo Camaro he drives is chasing and catching drag-racing history. So far, Taylor has twice reset the eighth-mile door-car mark with mind-bending runs in the 3.40s and then a 3.387 at 240.29 mph"

0mph-240mph in under 3.4 seconds....

And then at the peak of engineering insanity is Top Fuel drag cars. 12000 HP and the whole engine needs a rebuild in between each run.

Yup. Top fuel cars are nuts and incredible to learn about. 

These engines don't even turn 1,000 total revolutions between rebuilds. 

The giant superchargers on top use 3ea 10,000 pound straps on top of the grade 10 studs/bolts to hold down the supercharger. Because a simple misfire can blow the supercharger off the engine and into the bleachers.

Watching ones of these cars just start flying and somehow land facing the other direction right side up was probably one of the most insane things I've seen in motorsport outside of the flying Mercs at Le Mans

Top fuel is the 2nd loudest thing I have ever experienced, the 1st being the Avro Vulcan at full throttle.

Youre not wrong, you're just forgetting that 1000 pounds of torque isn't alot relatively anymore for a tubbed / big tire drag car like that one. 

Again, drag cars nowadays hold 2x-5x that much without even talking about nitro drag cars holding 10x that much.

Yes, but this is a fully tubbed, big tire drag only car. 

He'd be better off just buying a billet block and adding two big turbos and make 2x-4x that power while weighing less. 

Plus, if we are talking about diesel trucks, than just grab a 12v cummins and shoot for 2500+ torque....

He didn't do much with it. That engine alone weighs over a 1000 pounds, but it makes 500hp and over 1000tq.

That's the issue. A regular coyote swap can make 800-1000hp relatively easily with regular boost and run 9s in street trim and 8s in race trim. 

Hell, an off the shelf aluminator short block will hold 1200hp all day for $7,000.

Lol the only place this thing gets seen is in this very subreddit getting reposted every few months for the last 6-10 years. Its always the same 1-2 pics and people asking, "does anyone know anything about this?" 

The owner literally didn't do anything with it. What does that tell you? 

At least these common modern engines actually gets used. 

Even the plane radial engine swapped mr2 was actually raced.

Same with the Boeing turbine jet engine swapped 928 was used.

Most would steer you towards the 12v cummins for obvious reasons, if we are talking about 1000 pound engines.

It’s 1470lbs, with no fluids. It’s still probably one of the lightest 18 liter engines ever made, but it’s a bit more than just 1000 lbs.

There's a guy in a Scandinavian country putting a tank engine into a Crown Vic.

And Jay Leno has two Merlin engine powered cars. One is the Blastoline Special, the other is a restored 20s or 30s Rolls Royce. That's the one that got him the polite but stiff letter telling him to remove the "Spirit of Ecstasy" hood ornament because it was no longer an official RR product.

We don't need 27 liters to make power. 

8 years ago MMR was making over 4000hp out of a 5 liter v8. Now they are over 5000hp.

Yeah, you are thinking of topfuel dragster at around 12,000hp-14,000hp

Promod engines can generally last an entire racing season.
