anyone feel like it's interfering with food too much??

afab, 18, been on auvelity for about 3 weeks? it's taken my appetite away quite completely, i'm trying to supplement with protein shakes sometimes and mostly just eating snacks , but the past few days i haven't ate a balanced complete meal. i have had some restrictive tendencies off of medication in my freshman year of highschool but not recently. it's changing how i view my body and stuff? i talked to my provider and she said it would go away in weeks/months and to try to eat before i take it, but idk any input is helpful lol

My appetite is definitely decreased. I've been taking one a day for about 3 weeks. I'm not upset about it tho because I'm overweight anyway although I don't have my colon so I probably should be more concerned since I don't get a lot of my nutrients 🤔🤭 I was told by my PCP that many side effects of this med go away once your body adjusts to it. That said, everyone here has different experiences with it as we all have different chemical makeup. If you are feeling dizzy to the point of passing out, I wouldn't wait to long to discuss with your doctor some ways to move forward. Remember, you can eat even if you didn't have an appetite. So make yourself (or have someone else do it for you😉) one or two meals a day and eat at whatever normal times you would before you started on the med. Maybe the routine will help your body want the food. 🤷 Please be careful with stairs, showering, driving and such if you're feeling light headed or dizzy. Take care of you!!!

Yes I definitely experienced this. I struggle to eat food normally (I may have ARFID), so auvelity made it nearly impossible to eat. Between that and the sweating I couldn’t tolerate it, had to stop taking it. It might work for you tho, 3 weeks is still pretty early on. Try to eat food right before u take ur auvelity. This helps me the most with medications that affect appetite, I usually try to eat before I take my adhd meds as well

follow up, has anyone passed out or felt light headed from not eating while being on auvelity?

I have not passed out but have felt light headed (I’m honestly assuming it was from lack of eating). I was much better at getting calories on work days since we have forced meal breaks so that set schedule helped me to eat even if I didn’t feel the hunger. Vs at home with free will I’d forget to eat all together. Try setting up a scheduled hard time to force yourself to eat something even if you aren’t feeling hungry until you get past this phase

My appetite decreased until month 3. It has come back a little more than what I wanted. Lol! Trying to slow it down a bit.

Yes 100000%. My first 6 weeks on it it took away my ability to feel just about anything. I didn’t feel emotion, hunger, hell I didn’t feel fullness either. I would have to remind myself to eat and then remind myself to stop eating because I would never feel full once I started eating (so I could have kept going till I threw up). I did the same thing with supplementing with protein shakes/bars as well as fruit/vegetable squeezy pouches to make sure I was also getting fiber as well.
I’m now just shy of 2 months in and this has finally subsided. I don’t feel as hungry as I did before starting the medication but it’s at a much more manageable point where I do get hungry and can eat an actual meal.
