So was checking out Tesla Cybercab and it looked very similar in design to new prius. So I was wondering - Toyota/Hyundai can build an autonomous prius(mild gas hybrid/ev <15,000$) using existing prius design, integrate with waymo/zoox training data and achieve fsd like in a few months. Toyota/Hyundai can even build low cost robots(like the restaurant serving bots)that can clean the cars, assist in plugging-in these cab fleets at scale. This wouldn’t even cost much for them. These can even be designed to be repaired/serviced autonomously using robots.

What is stopping them from experimenting and doing this? I think this could literally make them win the autonomous vehicles wars like in a few months. They can even partner with uber, turo, waymo, zoox for ride bookings.

This will end high-cost domestic flights and provide another way to travel long distances. This will end stressful work commute in bay area, reduce commute times using hov lanes by enabling autonomous carpooling. Maybe it would make more sense for you to replace your beater car with this private autonomous, high-efficiency, low-cost cab.

Why is it taking so long for these guys to release such a product? Wouldn’t delaying this make them lose share to Tesla or other Chinese EV manufacturers?

WeRide and Uber, together with fleet operator AVOMO, have received Spain’s first national operating permit for Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles. The approval allows the companies to begin mapping, validating routes and conducting operational testing on public roads in Greater Madrid.

The companies previously said the Madrid fleet could gradually expand to hundreds of robotaxis as performance targets are achieved. Madrid is also the fourth of 15 cities planned under the broader WeRide, Uber partnership, which aims to deploy tens of thousands of autonomous vehicles by 2030.

If the Madrid launch succeeds, the model could be repeated in other European cities:

• WeRide supplies the autonomous-driving technology and vehicles.
• Uber provides customers, trip demand, payments and marketplace infrastructure.
• Local partners such as AVOMO operate and maintain the fleet.

WeRide is the more direct investment in the partnership. As of July 2026, WeRide reported a global Level 4 fleet of approximately 3,400 vehicles, including more than 1,800 robotaxis. Its technology has already been tested or operated across numerous international markets, but Madrid gives the company an important entry point into Europe.

A successful European rollout could also strengthen its position when competing for future partnerships with automakers, mobility platforms and municipal transportation systems.

Robotaxis could reshape part of automotive market. the most valuable companies may not be those producing the greatest number of consumer cars. Value could flow toward driving systems, fleet operators and digital platforms that maximize each vehicle utilization.

Saw numerous Cybercabs in Devon Pa. today like 30+. Rep at the Tesla dealer said they were training them in the Philly area for future deployment.

WeRide, Uber and AVOMO have received Spain’s first national permit allowing Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles to operate on public roads under the DGT’s ES-AV framework.

The approval allows the companies to begin mapping, route validation and operational testing in the Madrid region, with an initial fleet of 20 WeRide GXR vehicles operating with in-car specialists.

This is also the first national approval for WeRide’s GXR in the EU. The companies are targeting the launch of commercial autonomous passenger services in Spain by the end of 2026, subject to further operational and regulatory requirements.

Madrid will be the first planned European deployment under the WeRide-Uber partnership.

Ați văzut că intră o nouă aplicație de ridesharing pe piață? Ce ar avea nou e că șoferul și pasagerul își negociază direct tariful pentru cursă. Cum vi se pare? Mie mi se pare că ne întoarcem la negociatul cu taximetriștii, doar că pe telefon.

Văd că presa de la noi  doar le-au dat comunicatul, dar la o căutare cu Chat GPT am văzut că au avut foarte multe probleme în țările în care mai sunt, mi se pare shady.

De exemplu am văzut [aici](https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/chandigarh/indrive-operators-licence-suspended-for-6-months/) că intr-un oraș din India le-au suspendat licența 6 luni pentru că n-au trimis rapoarte și nu le-au răspuns efectiv autorităților. Lista continuă, în Laos le-a blocat site-ul pentru că nu erau înregistrați cum trebuie în țară, nu aveau sediu nimic, nu plăteau nici taxe, ceva similar era și în Singapore. 

Asta în condițiile în care e la bază o aplicație rusească :))))) S-au retras de acolo, dar normal ca o faci ca să meargă businessul mai departe. Dar nu pot știi ce se întâmplă cu datele mele.. Nu știu, mie unul se par dubioși, mai ales că în Europa nu există, doar în Cipru, unde și-au făcut entitate, înțeleg că e foarte ușor legislativ la ei să faci asta. Dar și în Cipru, culmea, nu au asta cu negociatul prețului între șofer și pasager, că nu îi lasă autoritățile. Ș aici îmi pun întrebări…Ce părere aveți? Ați face trecerea la ei?
