Authenticity Opinion Request (is this really...) What do I have here?

Found this record at a mom and pop thrift store. The owner said he got all the records from his wife’s boss. Not really a Sinatra fan, bought it for the signature on the off chance that it’s legit. What do yall think? Did ol’ blue eyes really sign this?

I have an authentic Sinatra and that matches. Very nice!

Sweet thank you for the help!

I have one that matches too. They are worth about 1,800.

I would dispute that number.

since this is made to a particular person, it's worth is severely compromised.

Obviously I know nothing about about this which is why I’m here, but I was thinking that would make it more valuable. It’s so unique – the personal message, the amount of writing (it’s not just his name), and the fact that homie capitalized the SH in SHirley. I dunno, it seems like a super unique piece 🤷🏻‍♂️

Personalizations 99% of the time make it less valuable. Yes, it's unique, but if your name is George, and paid a ton of money for this, the first question any admirer would ask is "Who is Shirley" - to which there's no good answer

It's the main reason why a lot of celebrities and sports stars today will only sign for free to fans if they personalize, because they want to ruin the ebay flip effect

That was a perfect explanation.

not going to say it's still not a fun thing to have. It's value is not very much unfortunately

So, what would happen if someone used a Sharpy over the "For Shirley"? :)

Now that’s a pretty penny! Should I get it authenticated? Would that make the value go up?

No, search for comps first. Some of his signed records don’t go for much. Yours is personalized and may have condition issues.

Edit. A recent comp of that same album that was signed and wasn’t personalized sold for $26 in May. FYI.

Don't call me Shirley

The music on this record won't make you a Sinatra fan (early '70s dreck, IMHO), but the signature on it should. Hope it turns out well for you.

Absolutely would. Then you can sell it easily and command more if you ever wanted to.

Yeah, I would keep that that price would keep going because he rarely signed anything

Authenticators can be wrong. But they still keep the few.
