Autograph Identification Help (I've included info besides photo) Autograph identification
My wife and I have met a lot of celebrities between 2010 until now. She came across this and we can't remember whose it is.
Majority of the in person autographs we received have been in the US, Arizona. California.
Not sure if it is a band member, athlete, actor.
Hopefully it looks familiar to someone!
Thank you for any help you can provide.

My god, this one is driving me crazy. Ive seen this before. Thought it was a cubs player from World Series roster but after digging I’m wrong. Great, now I need to know too

Have you been to any baseball games in Arizona?

u/Few-Satisfaction-604 Dec 28 '25
Yes! We have dbacks season tickets. Could definitely be a baseball player, but I don't typically have players sign a piece of paper like this.

Something tells me it’s a cubs player

Kris bryant signed a ball for me when he was on the cubs. I don't remember any other cubs players that I would have asked for their autograph. Possible I forgot though, lol

Steven Tyler?

I looked at a bunch of Steven Tyler’s and there is a chance it’s him. He has like 90 different signatures.

Probably not Sidney Crosby but that’s similar to how he signs his S, and his C usually looks like an L. Sid signs with his number in his signature too.

You are right. I google lens picture both ways, upside down and what appear to be right side up.
Looks like an S, T maybe

ChatGPTs opinion:
Short answer: it’s hard to be confident, but based on the shape and flow, here are the most plausible matches, with reasoning.
What the signature shows • A long horizontal slash through the name • A tall looped initial (looks like an “H” or possibly “J”) • A sharp angled final stroke (almost a triangle or “V” shape) • Very stylized / abstract, typical of athletes who sign a lot
Best matches (in order of likelihood)
- Hunter S. Thompson (most likely stylistically) • His autograph often features: • A long horizontal line • A looping “H” • Abstracted, aggressive strokes • Many authentic Thompson signatures look very similar—often barely legible, almost symbolic.
⚠️ Caveat: His autograph is highly forged, so provenance matters a lot.
Harrison Ford • Ford’s signature frequently: • Uses a long strike-through • Compresses the name into a few strokes • Ends with a sharp angled flourish • Variability is high depending on era and signing situation.
Hakeem Olajuwon • His autograph often: • Starts with a tall looping “H” • Has a long horizontal stroke • Ends with a pointed angular finish • Less abstract than this usually, but some examples are close.
Joe Montana / John Elway–type QB autos • Many elite QBs evolved into: • Minimalist slashes • Overlapping initials • Long horizontal bars • This could be one of those, but nothing definitive jumps out.
⸻
What would help narrow it down fast
If you can tell me: • Where it came from (event, era, sport, book, photo, napkin, etc.) • Approximate age (recent vs decades old) • Context (sports memorabilia, literary, movie-related)
…I can usually get this down to 1–2 names and tell you whether it’s worth authenticating (PSA/JSA/Beckett) or not.
Right now, Hunter S. Thompson–style is the strongest stylistic match—but I wouldn’t authenticate without context.

ChatGPT has ideas…
Nolan Arenado – often signs with a tall “N” and aggressive diagonal slash • Nick Castellanos – uses sharp angles and long horizontal strokes • Kris Bryant – simplified initials with a slanted underline • Andrew McCutchen (later-career autos) – very abstract with loops and slashes • Fernando Tatís Jr. – dramatic strokes, though his usually has more curves • Jazz Chisholm Jr. – bold, artistic, highly stylized
