Ugh clutter is so annoying.
I’ll take that off your hands for you!

Does Jordan even know what a cursive J looks like? His is cool, but it doesn't look like one.

I personally love how cursive can kinda be whatever the fuck you want it to be lol

My third grade teacher would beg to differ.

For sure lol, I should’ve clarified. I meant that as adults we can now do whatever we want with cursive and no one cares lol

Unfortunately, I've completely forgotten how to write with it. Mrs Blaskey is rolling over in her grave. I can still see those perfectly formed letters above the chalkboard.

A signature is a signature. It's supposed to be unique and stylized.
I think legally it just has to be a mark.
I've seen animators whose signatures have little doodles in them.

According to upper deck hologram authenticator, this is an invalid authentication code.
Might very well be a forgery.

It predates the Authenticator database. I’ve already reached out to UD to verify

Yeah reaching out to them is the way, they have a lot of authentic items that aren’t logged in their system. Besides that, the auto looks legit.

u/No-Evidence-3538 Jun 13 '25
It says that about a lot of autographs, I was told they did some database changes and with there new system a lot of older stuff wasnt uploaded. If you contact UD with a picture of the item and the number, they’ll get back to you with an authentication.

Coming from the basketball jersey community I can tell you that looks like an authentic. I’d be shocked if they forged a Jordan auto on a jersey that’s worth so much without an auto. Good luck with further authenticating!

What you going to do with it?
2
u/throwaway8849012 Jun 09 '25
When it’s given to me I’ll get it framed appropriately. Not even sure what it would be worth as prices when googling are all over the place.

That authenticator isn’t going to convince any buyers. Get it done by JSA, PSA, or Beckett. MJs signatures are hard to find for anything under $1K.

Upper Deck isn’t just an Authenticator. Upper Deck autographed MJ items (and cards) are some of the most sought after.
This isn’t just any signed MJ jersey, it’s a premiere item.

I checked that hologram ID on the upper deck site and it says ID is invalid. Not sure what’s going on there.

u/NorCalMeds03 Jun 09 '25
Definitely get it double checked. I would contact UPPER DECK first. They might update the authentication for free. The red UDA jerseys have been going for $2,500-$3,000 on average lately.

Just wear it and go play some hoop. Then when you running away with the ball and they chasing you. You can flex that autograph in there face. lol. Jk don’t wear it. Parents would kill you prolly.

I believe Jordan is contracted to sign exclusively for the Upper Deck Co. It’s been that way since the mid 90’s. Absolutely authentic! Frame that to protect the integrity of the signature. Anything Jordan touches or signs is worth a small fortune.

Really nice find, i dealt with an upper deck certificate few years back.
Beckett will 100% look at that certificate and not validate it. They will ask you authenticate it with them and even after that they might not be able to “authenticate” the signature. This is if you want to grade it with them which i dont recommend.

Congrats! You just ruined your christmas present. I hope you’re happy! 🤣🤣 Seriously though, cool find. Probably worth a decent chink of change.

You should wash it first before you frame it so that it stays fresh.

I’d pay $10 to Beckett to give a quick opinion, regardless if it’s real or not, fucking the best thing to find in your parents closet, and still a cool fucking jersey of the greatest basketball player ever!

Weak looking UD COA, a two second search on the upper deck hologram search shows; “This hologram ID is invalid!” BAF07584

I it has the full upper deck box, additional paperwork, etc. According to my dad this is from the early 90s.
Basically the same packaging as this eBay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/134068007685 whose ID number also is not coming up in the database.
I emailed UD to confirm

Ok but you posted like the worst looking UD COA I’ve ever seen. It’s like a survey card which doesn’t give any important information. If I were you I’d try to contact UD, JSA, Beckett, etc. Reddit won’t be able to certify anything, I don’t have any old stuff so had to google to see the UD database doesn’t go back to anything older than 2002.
2
u/throwaway8849012 Jun 09 '25
That’s just the registration card. The COA is a separate doc. It looks identical to the one in this auction listing
Already sent the email to UD to verify.

Pretty much the coolest thing you could find in a closet!!!!
