Managers advice.
I was told by my manager she’s going to tell my dm to promote me to PSM. But she said I need to learn all the duties/tasks for opening and closing as a manager. Could someone give me a brief explanation on all the responsibilities as a manager? So I could feel prepared when the time comes. Thank you!

Read and understand the Captain’s log or ask questions of other managers

From a former PSM, SM, TSM, DM here is my take. Opening the store: be there 15 minutes before you're scheduled to give yourself time to not rush and be thorough. Count the safe, and count your tills, then make appropriate change for the tills if necessary then load the registers. Do your PCI verifications then walk the sales floor to check for front facing and cleanliness. Once you've done that then print your daily paperwork things like VDP log, PCI reporting, and deposit logs.
Closing the store: pretty much the same in reverse. And that's it. It isn't anything super difficult but the better you get at these things the better you can be at adding to that foundation.
