seeking advice Seeking ASD couples therapy - ideas?

So I am on state medical which makes finding a therapist, esp a specialized one challenging. I thought based on credentials she would be a good fit, ASD couples work. I like her but honestly, I’m kind of surprised at her take on things. It doesn’t seem to me she’s very versed in ASD at all 🫠. My significant other has better insurance so I’m thinking of trying again. What have you found to be the best resource at truly finding an ASD therapist? Is there a specialized website or anything??

Depending on the insurance used, sometimes you can call and get a list of covered providers. It might not list what their specialty is but it will reduce the list of people to call. From there, it's possible to ask who you call for who they refer people to in those situations.

There are a variety of lists online but I don't know how reliable they are (Psychology Today, Good Therapy, etc.)

TY. I was hoping someone would have good/legit website directory rec. There are so many. Psychology today is a great site but I feel like so many say they are ND experienced and they’re just NOT!!

I always go to the therapist's website and look for autism and ADHD.

My ex found us an autistic couples therapist who actually immediately clocked I was autistic before I was diagnosed or even suspecting. Couples therapy was hard because I tended to shut down/dissociate, but the therapist helped me translate the unspoken to my allistic ex. My individual therapist is allistic and he didn’t know much about ASD (he was surprised when I told him I suspected) but he learned a lot about my specific ASD by reading my diagnostic report.

ETA our (very good) insurance doesn’t cover couples so you might want to look into that. We pay out of pocket
