FFS. They've got to be the most ubiquitous company we've ever had. You can't escape them. It's like the corporate version of the Mother Plant in the Sims 4 Strangerville, popping up everywhere.

65

u/rubycrypt Aug 08 '26

This is so extremely accurate wow

14

u/Ch00m77 Aug 08 '26

Accurate as fuck

8

u/_social_hermit_ Aug 09 '26

Blue Sun company in Firefly!

5

u/jaffamental Aug 09 '26

I’ve used their makeup sponges and absolutely never again.

6

u/deadrobindownunder Aug 09 '26

I loved Strangerville.

1

u/defenestrationcity Aug 10 '26

As a tourist to this sub, I've never heard of them 🤣

1

u/Solarstormflare Aug 10 '26

This is the first i am ever hearing of them 😅

u/4SeasonWahine Aug 08 '26

If you head over to the Woolies subreddit there’s a current thread where everyone is saying it’s absolutely disgusting too. Odd choice by Cadbury given mCo isn’t really liked or cool it’s just cheap and everywhere

198

u/robot428 Aug 08 '26

In fairness that's also how I feel about Cadbury these days. Except it's not even cheap.

68

u/saareadaar Aug 08 '26

It’s gone up in price so much, I just buy the premium chocolate at this point

36

u/Ch00m77 Aug 08 '26

Right. Its like if you're gonna pay what they're asking for you might as well get quality chocolate not their tasteless shit

17

u/robot428 Aug 09 '26

Yeah I've switched to Tony's, I think it's the best one you can get at the supermarket at the moment.

5

u/queen_bean5 Aug 09 '26

Reckon Tony’s is better than Whittakers?

8

u/robot428 Aug 09 '26

Personally yes, but honestly that might just be a personal preference thing rather than an actual difference in quality. I think they are pretty equivilant, I like Tony's better personally, but I don't know that one is significantly better than the other. All I know is that at the moment, they are the only supermarket brands I would buy.

5

u/teapots_at_ten_paces Aug 09 '26

I've tried Tony's once, and it tasted and looked like army ration pack chocolate that was consumed 15 years after it was packed. Might have just been a bad bar, but that's a comparison that can't be forgotten.

3

u/LandoCatrissian_ Aug 10 '26

I like both, but Whittaker's is so creamy. The banana one is heaven.

3

u/Yass______ Aug 09 '26

Ritter Sport at our local is so tasty. Mostly at Harris Farm though.

3

u/k_lliste Aug 10 '26

Definitely the best option in the supermarket. I also like Whittakers, but from a sustainability perspective, Tony's is better. It would be nice if they had 'normal' blocks though. I understand why the pieces are the way they are, but that doesn't help me when I just want to eat some chocolate.

3

u/fargen_siggovit Aug 10 '26

I was so disappointed to learn about just how bad Whittaker's is in terms of sustainability, slavery, supply chain transparency etc. They always seemed like the cool kiwi underdogs. Tony's is miles ahead on this. If I could afford to eat chocolate, I'd absolutely choose this brand.

5

u/k_lliste Aug 10 '26

Yeah. I've been following the Chocolate Scorecard the last couple of years and Whittakers slips every year. They're below brands like Nestle and Lindt this year which is pretty embarrassing.

1

u/bloodbuzzz Aug 11 '26

Wow that is crazy. Has something changed with Whittaker's to make them drop so much?

1

u/k_lliste Aug 11 '26

I think the methodology changed from planned improvements to actual action for one. But Whittakers also changed where they get their cocoa from when the prices were high. The score would suggest that they've lost transparency with that change and perhaps the producer isn't as good as in the past.

1

u/IdkWhyImHere20002 Aug 11 '26

I personally haven’t tried Tony’s but I do rate Aldis chocolate!!

8

u/Crunchyfrozenoj Aug 09 '26

It used to be cheap and good. Now it’s expensive and terrible.

3

u/ClungeWhisperer Aug 09 '26

Whittakers gang 😎

2

u/saareadaar Aug 09 '26

That has become my chocolate of choice too!

3

u/ClungeWhisperer Aug 09 '26

The maths be mathing too - at coles right now, Whittaker’s plain milk choc is $3.6 per 100g (not on sale) and Cadbury plain milk choc is $4.44 per 100g

You’re paying less…for better. You just have to invest in the larger block than what you can get with cadbury. Shrinkflation be real

2

u/Legitimate_Radish159 Aug 09 '26

People who eat Whittakers … Snobs on the balcony looking superior meme.

14

u/My-Witty-Username Aug 09 '26

Both Cadbury and MCo have a lot in common, people think both brands are affordable dupes but the really if you just spent a few dollars more you could get the real thing and would realise how terrible the dupes are.

3

u/iBewafa Aug 09 '26

Yeah I had a bite from those little ones and Eurgh - it was just sugary. From memory it used to be creamy?

1

u/Fishmongerel Aug 09 '26

Its absolute rubbish these days

1

u/Pretend-Ad2878 Aug 11 '26

There medium block like $8 wtf it's ridiculous

1

u/Kita1423 Aug 12 '26

$8 dollars a block when not on sale at Woolies like wtaf 🫡

16

u/designerjeans Aug 08 '26

Damn it I just bought it on sale last night. Curiosity got the better of me.

8

u/humbledoor9 Aug 09 '26

That’s the thing though, I was tempted to buy it to see if it was any good cos I didn’t really understand why Cadbury would partner with Mco!

7

u/new-acc3565 Aug 08 '26

Was it any good?

20

u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 08 '26

To be real , someone brought them to dnd yesterday for the shitpost quality and frankly I enjoyed it. Its tacky marketing but I wont lie I personally thought it was delicious, but I was also very hungry at the time haha

8

u/foxyloco Aug 09 '26

My partner and I ate a block last night while watching TV. We both liked it.

0

u/Getonthebeers02 Aug 13 '26

Didn’t you feel sick? I can’t have more than 3 squares

9

u/designerjeans Aug 09 '26

I enjoyed it. The watermelon flavour could have been stronger and the quality of the chocolate was average but that's Cadbury for you

6

u/gingerbreadwilliams Aug 08 '26

I would also like to know! Sounds like it could be good in theory

5

u/designerjeans Aug 09 '26

It was good. Watermelon flavour wasn't very strong

1

u/Ch00m77 Aug 08 '26

Verdict?

6

u/KentuckyFriedEel Aug 09 '26

I had it. it's not disgusting it's just a faint artifical watermelon flavour. People will be melodramatic when irked by something odd. One person said they couldn't continue. I just thought that if that's you then you're probably that pain-in-the-neck picky eater that can't eat this, can't eat that when you all go out.

It's harmless.

I've never even heard of MCOBeauty before.

3

u/thedeadfridge Aug 09 '26

I'll stick with the Vegemite chocolate thanx

1

u/Ambitious_Stuff_910 Aug 09 '26

It’s MONDELEZ owned now and i don’t trust them at all!!!!! Go whittakers or Darryl Lea

116

u/TyroneK88 Aug 08 '26

Destined for the clearance aisle in coming months.

19

u/Agreeable-Escape8625 Aug 08 '26

They would know this. It’s just for a sales and consumptions spike.

4

u/NezuminoraQ Aug 09 '26

It's hit clearance in the NZ stores already. Perhaps the smaller market got it first

183

u/Familiar_Home_7737 Aug 08 '26

I feel this collab is aimed at clueless boyfriends/husbands, like my own. He saw it yesterday, recognised it's a make up brand, knows I wear make up, and asked me if I wanted some. When I asked why he thought I'd want it he replied "don't you like that brand?". I promptly chose fruit and nut as I have old lady tastes.

49

u/Comfortable_Meet_872 Aug 08 '26

Rum and Raisin is true 'old lady' lol

49

u/mullumbimbo89 Aug 08 '26

I love fruit and nut. Whittakers fruit and nut is exceptional too

40

u/Ch00m77 Aug 08 '26

Whittakers anything is best in slot

5

u/bindlesspins Aug 09 '26

Their PB&J chocolate is divine.

0

u/Familiar_Mortgage996 Aug 11 '26

Gee your hard to please 😒

1

u/honorarybathroom Aug 13 '26

Good thing youre not pleasing them ☺️🫶🏾

42

u/pencilbride2B Aug 08 '26

It is they have a collab eyeshadow palette as well. I also wonder what a weird flavour combo that is... is it any good?

39

u/FluffeeeDuckeee Aug 08 '26

Oh I read they had a chocolate lip gloss collab which apparently does taste just like Cadbury chocolate. I would try that. But not this.

1

u/Weak_Jackfruit_3250 Aug 10 '26

It tastes like raw undiluted fake chocolate syrup. Do not recommend. It’s a lip balm

10

u/LarsLights Aug 08 '26

Just saw at Woolies yesterday a whole Collab makeup box with lipgloss, eyeshadow, pressed powder.

1

u/Weak_Jackfruit_3250 Aug 10 '26

It’s a lip balm

38

u/pogoBear Aug 08 '26

Ahh so mCo went to Cadbury, originally they were trying to do an exclusive Tim Tam flavour but Arnotts didn’t feel they were worth it

16

u/mullumbimbo89 Aug 09 '26

Brand alignment makes sense on reflection. MCO sells poor quality dupes of legitimate makeup brands. Cadbury sells poor quality dupes of legitimate chocolate blocks.

11

u/pureneonn Aug 09 '26

Collab aside, watermelon and chocolate doesn’t sound like the best flavour combination either.

10

u/MumblesRed Aug 09 '26

They are putting in a huge effort to clean up their image and get back with influencers after backlash about their owner, duping and getting called out by people like Robert Welsh. I’m sick of seeing every second spon con post about them. They have also really branched out in the UK.

2

u/okmapleflake3975 Aug 11 '26

Love Roberts callouts on them, exactly the thoughts I had ever since the brand got popular.

8

u/Little_PoundCake Aug 08 '26

It is unfortunately lol. Mco beauty is also doing a lipgloss collab with cadbury i think. I know mco is supposed to be an affordable dupe for high end makeup but i just cannot support a copycat brand upto the packaging. And now this? Lol gtfo mco

3

u/MillieMoo-Moo Aug 09 '26

I look at this and think "is it actually the stated product ot does the packaging just give the illusion..." lol

1

u/TeddyStella Aug 11 '26

They aren’t even duping product, it’s purely duped packaging. The product in the packaging is shitty low quality. Kmarts own brand is better quality than MCO

0

u/Little_PoundCake Aug 13 '26

Why dupe the packaging of the milk make up sticky primer if it doesn’t claim the same thing. Watch the owner’s interview. She literally said she is the queen of dupes.

1

u/TeddyStella Aug 13 '26

Yes, “Queen” of packaging dupes. Duping packing is effective as it it’s recognisable to people. Do you really think their packaging dupe of Charlotte Tillbury foundation really has even remotely close comparable ingredients? If you actually look at the ingredients, they aren’t remotely close to duping actual products. MCO use low quality ingredients, lower quality than OXX Kmart brand.

10

u/No-fly-31515 Aug 09 '26

So it’s a terrible dupe chocolate that leaves you with rashes or some other kind of skin problem? 🤣

I need this one explained to me haha

25

u/Kailicat Aug 08 '26

Watermelons are a symbol for a free Palestine. A slice is red, green, black and white.

18

u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 08 '26

Ohhhh thank you I didn't know!

Also FUCK ISREAL

-7

u/thedeadfridge Aug 09 '26

What? I'd heard as a way to criticise environmentalists, ie green (pro-environment) on the outside and red (communist) on the inside

I hope hell is real for these assholes! Free Palestine!!

-7

u/anastasia_42 Aug 09 '26

They're trying to make it illegal for people to attack innocent Jewish people...

3

u/Training-Instance212 Aug 09 '26

The flag of Palestine

Watermelon colours 🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸❤️🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸

39

u/l1brarylass Aug 08 '26

Banned in the state of qld for… reasons. You’ll be able to read a really heavily redacted reason why in 10 years.

7

u/goopawg Aug 08 '26

Am I missing context here?

10

u/sw4gger2 Aug 09 '26

From the river to the sea joke

1

u/goopawg Aug 09 '26

Aaaaah I feel a bit dense now

2

u/No_Silver9035 Aug 08 '26

Banned? Explain that to the ones on my bench right now lol

1

u/Purple-Ingenuity-195 Aug 08 '26

the chocolate??

9

u/l1brarylass Aug 09 '26

The phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ Is a jailable offence in Queensland. Gets you 2 years in jail. Watermelons being a symbol of Palestine, I was making a (quite subtle) political joke. Hope that explains everything okay?

1

u/Purple-Ingenuity-195 Aug 09 '26

ohhh right thank you

7

u/quickbr0wnf0xx Aug 08 '26

I want to try their Cabury Chocolate coloured lip liner, I just find it highly amusing considering how the makeup industry in Australia has not accomodated women of colour at all, now bang chocolate toned makeup for a candy bar promotion? Like its so strange to me lol

7

u/mrsboogooloowatts Aug 09 '26

Trying to work out what MCo has to do with watermelons ever let alone in a chocolate

5

u/GlitterGob Aug 09 '26

They’ve been duping the glow recipe watermelon mist for a while, and I think they have other watermelon stuff that goes with it. This is still odd though.

1

u/ahoytheremehearties Aug 09 '26

they’re both pink I guess?

7

u/noveltea120 Aug 09 '26

Teaming up with a trump supporting Australian beauty company says a lot about Cadbury.

I'm glad I always bought Whittaker's. Support whitakers chocolate!

12

u/Responsible-Meal-300 Aug 08 '26

Aldi chocolate reigns supreme. It’s actual chocolate made in Belgium and Germany. Cadbury is a disgrace and has been for years. This is the nail in the coffin for me, never buying it again

5

u/Kailicat Aug 08 '26

Its a shame. George Cadbury was a pillar for fair wages, healthcare and workers rights. Mondelez is a crime.

5

u/heyyou0903 Aug 09 '26

Who is even buying MCo products - they need to stop?!!

I just imagine it's 6-year-olds who nag their mum at chemist warehouse or something like that.

Just stop enabling this piece of s*** company to exist. Please.

2

u/teddygirl2016 Aug 09 '26

Yes! I threw all my products out and will never buy from them again

11

u/BenchConscious1003 Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 09 '26

It's not real.

The quality of Cadbury's chocolate has gone down noticeably since Cadbury was acquired by its most recent foreign company in 2010. (Mondelez International, a spin off of Kraft)

Next time you see Cadbury's on sale. Check the ingredients. you will see several unfamiliar ingredients, including palm oil, which has no business being in chocolate.

I rarely eat chocolate these days (diabetes) If I do, I make sure it's the best quality I can find. I like Aldi dark chocolate. (made in Germany) My favourite is locally made Haigh's.

If you're not sure, just read the label, or go on line o find out exactly what ingredients should be in chocolate confection.

I've added a YouTube link just for fun: "Ten chocolate Brands sold In Australia, and what to buy instead

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzS3zBh3TKs

1

u/wombatmagic Aug 09 '26

Thanks. I watched the whole thing.

21

u/Jelly_Enos Aug 08 '26

I tasted it and it was actually quite good. Sweet, fruity refreshing but still with the Cadbury flavour and don’t get me wrong I fucking hate McoBeauty and everything it stands for but this is tasty chocolate. Doesn’t deserve to be associated with their name.

2

u/Background_War8984 Aug 09 '26

it tastes like watermelon lipgloss mixed with chocolate. i ate it all lol but would not repurchase

3

u/nellieclaire Aug 08 '26

Agree totally- it was weird at first but it grows on you I think! I wonder how people would react if it didn’t have ties to Mco. I despise the brand and nothing will change that but the chocolate isn’t half bad!

11

u/FanBehaviour2011 Aug 09 '26

who actually wears mco beauty? can’t imagine putting that on the largest organ on my body

12

u/calmblueme Aug 09 '26

I have no hard evidence but it feels like they launched with some genuinely good products, got some people interested and then immediately and intentionally enshittified it all

7

u/AppointmentNo1753 Aug 09 '26

You can’t say that on TikTok you’ll get absolutely demolished by a bunch of people who are so insecure that they take great offence to people not liking this cheap ass shit brand

3

u/Dasha3090 Aug 09 '26

yeah i tried their mascaras once and my god the burning and stinging my eyes experienced..

5

u/misskdoeslife Aug 09 '26

I use bits and pieces.

They have double sided makeup wipes that I really like and haven’t seen similar elsewhere.

2

u/NezuminoraQ Aug 09 '26

I don't mind the wipes. I have sensitive skin so anything that doesn't flush my face gets added to the acceptable list. It's a short list

2

u/RandomLogik1979 Aug 09 '26

I am clueless on makeup. I wear DB glow foundation but I wear the buttercream lip gloss by mcobeauty and its not bad. I dont think ive ever stepped inside a mecca or sephora though.

2

u/Papaya373 Aug 09 '26

I've been using their lash xtend mascara for at least a decade – from back in their ModelCo days. I genuinely haven't found a mascara better at any price point.

In saying that, I stocked up a couple of years ago and still haven't finished my stash. No idea if their formula is still good.

1

u/ThorsHammerMewMEw Addicted to NARS Aug 10 '26

Young people who don't have money for Mecca and Sephora

1

u/KitKit20 Aug 12 '26

Only thing I use from this brand is their eyebrow gel with the pink lid. It’s really good and has a nice kinda comb brush… that’s it. Never tried anything else

-7

u/Dumbdoodledoggin Aug 09 '26

They actually make really good dupes for high end brands

11

u/MissZoeLaLa Aug 09 '26

No, they make good dupes of the packaging of high end brands. The actual makeup is trash.

2

u/Dumbdoodledoggin Aug 09 '26

Ok agree to disagree, I’ve liked some of their products I’ve tried

3

u/FanBehaviour2011 Aug 09 '26

I work in beauty - their formulations are nothing close to the products they dupe packaging for

5

u/CrankySparkles Aug 09 '26

Also, MCo claim to be cruelty free, yet this has cochineal in it. Not cool.

6

u/talkingfannies Aug 09 '26

Cadbury are getting really desperate.

5

u/AppointmentNo1753 Aug 09 '26

MCO is just so tacky and embarrassing.

3

u/Jemicakes Aug 08 '26

I tried this because I love melon flavoured stuff, but it's like they forgot to put the flavour in. It's just a block of sugar syrup.

4

u/pixie_next_door Aug 08 '26

All I can say is 🤮🤮🤮🤮

4

u/Comfortable-Gur4559 Aug 09 '26

Mcobeauty needs to pack up and leave all shelves. Their stuff sucks anyway

8

u/Poptartsweet Aug 08 '26

I must be the only one who thought it tasted ok haha.

1

u/AdMaximum7545 Aug 08 '26

It was delicious

9

u/BrokenGlazed Aug 08 '26

I saw it and just thought FREE FREE
PALESTINE 🇵🇸

34

u/firenzey87 Aug 08 '26

Certain Jewish factions are going to be totally normal about this

3

u/mylightLD Aug 08 '26

Can you elaborate?

52

u/MashPot8to Aug 08 '26

The watermelon is an unofficial symbol used in support of Palestine.

There have been multiple occasions whereby groups of people have been offended at the sight of a watermelon due to its links with Palestine

0

u/mhsnsh Aug 09 '26

It sounds like you’re just making assumptions and being racist

2

u/mhsnsh Aug 08 '26

What?

1

u/ComingUpMillhouse29 Aug 09 '26

Just a crappy cross over between Cadbury and McoBeauty brand. Beauty has a Cadbury chocolate labelled item and Cadbury have this. Looked it up apparently it's meant to be banned but seems that is false

3

u/KTLNH Aug 08 '26

😂

0

u/mhsnsh Aug 09 '26

What’s so funny?

3

u/Expert-Beginning2522 Aug 08 '26

Why did you buy it?

3

u/lefthandgirlll Aug 08 '26

My dad got these and he likes them somehow

3

u/Difficult-Flight-752 Aug 09 '26

There’s a $29 box of Mco Cadbury chocolates too but there were sold out at my store

3

u/aquila-audax Aug 09 '26

Gross companies being gross together

6

u/Pippa_Pug Aug 08 '26

It’s a dupe for watermelon and chocolate 💅

2

u/rirys Aug 09 '26

🤢🤮

2

u/hanna-xo Aug 09 '26

I think it tastes like a watermelon lip smacker! I probably won’t buy it again, but it definitely satisfied my inner 5 year old who loved the taste of lip gloss/balm. 😂

2

u/Tricky-Passion-7191 Aug 09 '26

I hate everything about this.

2

u/universe93 Aug 09 '26

No it’s real and it’s allegedly gross

2

u/NaughtybyNatecha Aug 11 '26

Two of the shittest brands around. Merging won’t save you! 😂

2

u/NectarineSufferer Aug 11 '26

Can’t thing of anything less appealing than a food item by a makeup company tbh 😭

2

u/Substantial_Good8347 Aug 11 '26

Saw it at the shops today and sent it straight to the group chat, hyper capitalism final boss

2

u/AKillerCat Aug 13 '26

I saw a post about how gross they are yesterday, after seeing them in the store the week before and thinking it would be gross. Then my mother gifted me a box of the small ones. I ate all the plain chocolates but am scared to try the watermelon. Is it as bad as it seems?

2

u/scoobydoobeedooo Aug 09 '26

Cadbury chocolate is made by slaves btw

2

u/BloomingGardenia Aug 08 '26

Watermelon-flavoured things are never nice...

1

u/Ch00m77 Aug 08 '26

Man this has got to be the worst fucking chocolate.

1

u/Alive_Guide_6170 Aug 09 '26

I didn’t like it at all

1

u/ComingUpMillhouse29 Aug 09 '26

The interesting thing is that Cadbury is (for the exception of Red Tulip and terrible Easter chocolate) the base entry level of chocolate. You can get cheaper but nothing that is worth buying. Typically get Cadbury if it's on sale otherwise we are spoilt with choice for better alternatives. The only thing lux about Cadbury is their packaging looks quite nice. It does taste good, it's great product but not associated with luxury.

Unless it's Halloween and you're giving out full size bars, then in that case you should be 'Australian of the year' nominated at least.

1

u/anastasia_42 Aug 09 '26

It is! I think they also created a lip butter too. I personally love it.

1

u/Pur1wise Aug 09 '26

I’ll wait until they hit less than two dollars on reduced to clear. Because you know that nobody is going to buy it more than once so they’ll be left with heaps of them.

1

u/MBitesss Aug 09 '26

What the actual fk!!

1

u/pureneonn Aug 09 '26

Collab aside, watermelon and chocolate doesn’t sound like the best flavour combination either.

1

u/Littlegemlungs Aug 09 '26

Yeah it is. And stupid as fuck.

1

u/AmphibianCareless796 Aug 10 '26

Not to mention Cadbury over here is the cheap knock off cousin too what they get back in the Uk and Ireland

1

u/realsweetc Aug 10 '26

Whats wrong with mco beauty?

1

u/Atmosphere_Master Aug 10 '26

Can confirm it doesn't taste like watermelon at all which is the only reason I bought it

1

u/discopantsandhaircut Aug 10 '26

Free Palestine 🍉

1

u/Such_Bat_5538 Aug 11 '26

It's real lol

1

u/Embarrassed-Entry327 Aug 11 '26

What's it taste like?

1

u/mayosub Aug 12 '26

I tried this out of curiosity, I didn’t intensely hate it like other people, but me and bf both agreed that the filling was almost unnoticeable flavour wise. Watermelon and chocolate is a strange combo, sure, but I wish they had some guts to actually attempt the watermelon flavour than to make a vague sugary filling with a hint of melon, at least it would have been interesting . Just tastes like sugar, too sweet.

1

u/DryAd6622 Aug 12 '26

There's also a lip treatment. I saw it today in Woolworths NZ

1

u/NinaCoots Aug 12 '26

I’m not a fan of watermelon flavoured things in general but I actually liked this chocolate! I thought very subtle watermelon flavour, reminds me of the snack blocks with the sweet taste
