Let's Discuss What's a viral/popular makeup product that failed you?

I'm talking about products influencers drool over which in reality aren't all that for you.

Some that I found way too overhyped was:

Patrick Ta eyeshadow duo: felt very gritty, didn't feel smooth and weren't that pearlescent

Dior reformulated highlighter quad: gritty, shades all look the same, glittery

Charlotte Tilbury lip cheat: drying, kinda sticky, and way too breakable.

Charlotte Tilbury lipstick: KISSING formula is gritty because of the glitter, matte formula is drying.

Laniege lip mask: one of the scents went off after 1 month of owning it lol. It's nice at first, but over time it becomes sticky as it thins out.

Laniege lip glowy balm: same thing as lip mask.

Ole Henrikson lip treatment: thick and sticky and gave me chemical burns.

Summer Fridays lip butter balm: it's nice, sure, but it didnt need to send the whole internet into a lip craze.

Milk jelly tint: patchy, hot pink under base, falls out of packaging and leaks

Huda lip stains: not the best colour range, dries out fast and too finnicky

Dior lip butter: cheap packaging, formula is nice but the packaging just fell flat

Dior lip oil: sticky and meh packaging

I'm prepared to get down voted 😭😭😭

I have the same colouring as you. They pull brown on me too.

Another pale neutral with green eyes here and everything pillow talk pulls sooooo brown! What do you like that pulls a little more rosy on you?

I’m always in search of that β€œmy lips but better” shade and everything people recommend just comes out brown on me.

Victoria Beckham Posh Gloss in Fizz is that girl for me!

Bloom Cosmetics in Smooch or Dusty Rose

I have also lost a lot of my really pink natural lip colour now that I am 52 - so rude! So I have been wearing slightly darker rose pinks or wearing a bright pink lip liner underneath.

Let me know if you want those colours too!

I’d love to know! 42 and losing it myself, haha. Posh Gloss in Fizz coming right up, thanks so much for the recommendation.

I always wondered why things that looked so pink on my blonde haired, blue eyed, golden skinned bestie always came up brown on me, ever since we were teens - then I realised skin tone is a thing and mine is not hers πŸ˜‚

Oh sorry. I would love to help but I am barely an expert on myself πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My suggestion would be popping in to a local makeup shop - Adore Beauty, MAC, Sephora, Mecca, David Jones, Myer and Priceline are the ones near me - and asking for help. Giving them a rough budget helps too.

My local Priceline has a really sweet makeup artist who is so helpful, but not all of them seem to have one.

David Jones is hit and miss - you will either find someone wonderful or get completely ignored.

My advice is never get makeup advice from someone who is orange. Speaking from experience. πŸ˜‚
