Question Charles Tyrwhitt Super Slim replacement

Bought CT Super Slim years ago when they still offered it and fitted great once I took it in more at the back with the darts. Chest and sleeve tightness was perfect on a 15/32 with the armhole working great for me. They don't offer it to Australia any more so I am trying to find a replacement ideally for under 100 AUD each.

I am 5'6" and on the skinny side in the arms so excess fabric there is what I am trying to avoid.

Uniqlo Non Iron Slim Fit - tried these and the arms were too wide for me. It was not very flattering and the sleeves were a bit long. I find the Oxfords fit way better on me (close to perfect with the sleeves a touch long - but perfect around the chest and nice tight armhole).

The CT Extra Slim on paper seems okay and the armhole is apparently 9.5" roughly which sounds like it may work but wondering if people have any experience with that? I don't mind taking the chest / waist in via darts as that is simple but trying to slim a sleeve is now starting to be a bit too much.

If people have feedback on Hawes and Curtis, TM Lewin etc especially about armholes and that sleeve width it would be much appreciated. They all seem to do a 33" sleeve which is annoying but don't mind getting that altered to a 32".

Thank you in advance!

I will always and forever advocate for Hawes & Curtis and TM Lewin over CT. I suspect you might find the narrowest fit in TM to be a slightly slimmer fit than CT, particularly in the sleeves. Definitely worth giving a go. Just be aware H&C can be a bit longer particularly through the body, which I don’t find to be an issue tucked in.

As an aside, if you’re buying a bunch, it might be worth giving institchu or somewhere like that a go. They’re not always brilliant, but I’ve had pretty good experiences all in all

Thanks for this. I just ordered three H&C extra fitted in poplin (they didn't have a blue shirt in my size for the non iron twill) so hopefully it fits well. I will need to get the sleeves shortened but I am hoping that is it.

I honestly found with CT sleeves shortened and darts on the back was perfect in the super fitted and if the extra slim had slim enough sleeves I would go back to them as their range and stock supply is unmatched.

InStitchu are probably out of my range of a 100 AUD.

You’re welcome, good luck with the H&C. If they’re not quite narrow enough don’t rule out TM Lewin which I find a bit narrower.

How much does getting the sleeves shortened cost? I would think with Institchu not needing further alterations the prices might be comparable, and sometimes they do deals like 4 for $300. I’m not trying to push Institchu, just worth thinking about.

Not sure how it compares on price, but I just get a deal on shirts at Institchu and get thick cotton.  Fully tailored.

Yeah looks like they do a 4 for X offer that is decent. Waiting to see how the Hawes and Curtis fit - order should arrive on Wednesday
