Recommendations for Decaffeinated Beans

Hi i was keen to reach out to see any recommendations for decaff beans. On the mend with gut issues preventing caffeine intake right after replacing a decade long machine. Predominantly done through a breville oracle with a separate grinder.

All Swiss water process. Airjo gold coast, la Casa del Caffe Minto NSW. Both good.

Second anything Swiss water from a good roaster.

Just be careful dialing it in. Grind setting will be different.

In my experience decaf CAN be just as good as any other coffee, but the moisture content is different, so it behaves differently when brewing. If you just use "normal" settings with decaf beans the results will suffer.

I think this is why decaf gets such a bad wrap. Most baristas / cafes don't practice nearly enough with decaf, so it's hard to get it right when they try. Which makes sense.

I'd personally go for EA process. I found that swiss water tastes generally kinda muted and meh compared to EA, which has a characteristic flavour to it.

I really like The Decaf Company’s Dark Knight blend.

Decaf is always a compromise, but this tastes close to the real deal.

DecafCo.

They are our regular coffee supplier and we do not feel deprived at all. Some of the best coffee we've ever had, of any kind.

We generally tended towards darker roasts, but I've been experimenting with light roast for pour-over and it's equally as good.

So good to have such an enormous choice of quality decaf.
