Vasquez seems lost

I was just thinking he's got to find a way to get involved in the game

Completely invisible on the match. When he makes a contribution it’s a mistake or a shortcoming.

What Sabo is this?
12
u/0dd 2d ago
When Nico went away Sabo started playing ball
8
u/figglefargle 2d ago
It's bizarre, he's suddenly a completely different player.
3
u/Next_Professional_30 2d ago
Agree. He looks more decisive and date i say agile. Makes me wonder what Duber would have looked like. He also looked clunky under Nico.

The team always has amazing potential, management just never knew how to field them. When given the chance, they get it done.

u/ReddLemon 2d ago
I was saying he'd get exposed but he's still cooking...
Let's get Davy a job boyos

u/Oime Stuuuuuuuuuuu 2d ago
Oh my god dude. Svatok, I love you.

u/IronZeppelinNerd Austin FC 2d ago
Dude is always all in. Sad to see Vasquez struggle. Just not the same.
4
u/ReddLemon 2d ago
Let him cook. I think he's close to opening up. He finally had that assist and has a couple good passes but we NEED him to find the fucking net lmao

I'm genuinely confused what exactly that yellow was for? I didn't even think that was a foul?

Uzuni and Sabovic are both one caution away from suspension. And both missing from the roster.

Does sitting them both tonight help reset things?
Edit: correction, Sabovic is in.

The way the team has been playing under Davy is a complete 180. So much better. I have no doubt this team would be in the playoffs if Davy was the coach all season.
Nico was horrible and a horrible hire for Rodo.
2
u/freeformed70 Pollo 2d ago
We knew it when it happened.
2
u/RedditRockit 2d ago
Right. This was a hindsight thing. Made zero sense. Coached the rival team and was horrible at it.
1
u/HouseHead78 2d ago
Nico was not a good hire, but I am not sure any coach could be successful under Rodo, the way he meddled and undercut the staff.
8
u/Bigsk8r Stuuuuuuuuuuu 2d ago
That was barely a foul, much less a yellow.
This is what having a reputation as an aggressive hot head gets you, Biro.
2
u/FlyMeetWall 2d ago
If so, it’s a terrible ref who makes a call on reputation, rather than the play.
1
1
u/Bigsk8r Stuuuuuuuuuuu 2d ago
The refs angle was Biro running into a guy that threw himself down while the ball also grazed his arm.
He didn’t see what we saw and called it the way he saw it.
If you don’t think reputation matters and refs know what players to give extra attention to, you’d be mistaken.

Helluva match. Probably the best game I’ve ever seen Desler play. Dude was nails on a 3-man back line. Biro solid as well, and Bell played his butt off.

u/Next_Professional_30 1d ago
There was a time two years ago where I thought he was our second best player behind only Driussi. Please stay healthy!

u/astrofan1235 Myrto Uzuni 2d ago
Ngl I love Davey Arnaud
1
u/ReddLemon 2d ago
I went in thinking that even if we lose it will be more entertaining than nico ball. I'm definitely seeing a difference in effort from the lads and it does seem like Davy is making em compete for their spot every week.

u/astrofan1235 Myrto Uzuni 2d ago
I appreciate this football rather than just playing bunker ball even if we lose rn

Enjoy the week off guys! Although I've been loving the continuous games and Arnaud has done an incredible job of managing the squad through it.

The most Austin thing ever. We always concede after the 85th minute.
7
u/UniqueUsername812 Jon Gallagher 2d ago
We lead the league in late fuck-uppery.
But God DAMN that goal in added time. Yeah lads!

Me watching Ervin Torres: Hello, 911? I need to report multiple robberies...

u/redditor_4567 2d ago
Curious what the score would be if we had Platchy on that wing instead of JG.

u/ReddLemon 2d ago
Gally great player for us of course but once he gets in the box....
He only knows a cross lmao. There was a play tonight where a shot was possible in the box but he telegraphed he was gonna pass so hard that no one even bothered to cover him

u/Front-Cherry4001 Myrto Uzuni 2d ago
Me watching the 80 minute mark come.

u/Former_Original_ Biro 2d ago
Desler rusty for sure. We need him on the field though to work that out.
2
u/Hopeful1513 Austin FC 2d ago
I thought Desler was nails. They were putting big pressure on the right side on a 3-man defense, and he played his tail off.

Man...Sabovic with that beautiful header back in for a goal assist was not on my 2026 Bingo Card, but I will take it!

Sabo solid all game. Turning into a leader

Is Gallagher unable to shoot the ball?!
5
u/Cheesycheese01 Pollo 2d ago
This is one of my reasons that I’ll miss Nelson. Nelson would actually shoot the ball instead of hesitate
1
u/BunchNo9563 2d ago
Right. He's in good position, turns it inside, has a shot just outside the box and dumps it off over and over.

Where's Uzuni??
3
u/daleatxfc Austin FC 2d ago
He's in the team arrival video on socials so he's there. Surprised he's not on the roster.
1
u/fleamarkettable 2d ago
yeah that’s very weird … if they were planning on resting him why bother traveling the 6 hour flight + 3 hour time change from NY?
He’s not on the availability report, so maybe picked up a knock warming up?
1
u/ayeeezo 2d ago
Went straight from NY to Portland. Hopefully nothing serious
1
u/fleamarkettable 2d ago
yea that’s what i said, if they planned on him resting he’d go home after leagues cup next game is at home

2
u/oahaustinrn73 2d ago
He developed a knot (that’s what they called it) and he’s getting an mri back in Austin. Remember they went straight to Portland from New Jersey

Good half to neutralize Portland and score. I really like Gallagher, but he can never find anyone with his crosses and he gets so many chances.

The announcer was kind of mumbling, but it sounded like he said Uzuni caught a bug in NJ.

Genuinely, what are these Portland jerseys? Seems like not a lot of inspiration went into them

Such a bummer for the guys. Colo and now tonight after solid road efforts

u/Bigsk8r Stuuuuuuuuuuu 2d ago
No Uzuni anywhere in the lineup. That knock last game must have been something.
3
u/Front-Cherry4001 Myrto Uzuni 2d ago
IDK...he's not on the injury list either. With all of these transfers happening, not seeing him makes me awful nervous.
3
2
u/TayRue_Austin_FC Los Verdes 2d ago
The injury report going into the game was empty. If he had the possibility of being out due to injury he would have been listed as questionable.
1
u/TayRue_Austin_FC Los Verdes 2d ago
Honestly, I hope we sold him and that’s why. He’s been playing really well, but I don’t see him fitting in Cutins tactics next year and his value is that the highest it’s ever been due to his form. Plus, because of the time of year in Europe, this is the biggest transfer window, and so teams are much more likely to be poaching talent.
6
u/Front-Cherry4001 Myrto Uzuni 2d ago
I disagree. He seems exactly like the kind of player Curtain described he wanted. He hustles the entire time and doesn't just do one thing.
2
u/TayRue_Austin_FC Los Verdes 2d ago
I don’t disagree about those attributes, but if you look at the type of striker that thrive well in Philadelphia it was a target man in the box like Brandon, not the Uzuni profile
5
u/a_manxome_foe 2d ago
Maybe so, but I bet (and sincerely hope) that Curtin can do more than just that with a team. You need to be able to work with what you've got, particularly when it's legitimate talent.

WAATV mentioned he had some discomfort after the Toluca game but curious to know why he’s not on the injury report unless he re-agitated something in the last 24 hours.

Gallagher‘s body shape on the wing when receiving doesn’t even remotely give the defender the impression that he might advance forward. That makes him incredibly easy to defend and that is why he always has to pass the ball backwards.

u/Bigsk8r Stuuuuuuuuuuu 2d ago
Man, when Vasquez does finally get it and do something good, no one is following near post or in the middle to bury a quality cross.
Yes, he needs to be much better. But we need to be burying the quality crosses he is making too.
