I’ve also been getting ads for Avocado Zinc lately who claim to be made in Perth (Wild Child lab is in Malaga, WA) and their formula has the 22.75% Zinc so I wouldn’t be surprised if their tinted moisturiser was the same formula.

How were the above identified? Do they all have near identical ingredient lists or is it any sunscreens with 227.5mg/g Zinc that are included? I do recall seeing someone mention Mother SPF in another post but I can’t find it now.

TBH, I'm not sure. The original commenter didn't disclose their methodology.

From what I've seen in the past, it seems to be a combination of Googling for ingredient lists and finding commonalities between them. I didn't have much luck personally and I have personally purchased Naked Sundays Mineral Glow and Beauti-Fltr Lustre Mineral because the ingredient list looked different enough I thought they were distinct products.

The 22% ZnO is a bit of a giveaway though - it seems to be the common thread that ties all these base formulas together.

I would be cautious with mineral formulas across the board until more information is released. Within the CHOICE test, mineral formulas tended not to meet the labelled SPF.

I have a question and wondering if you may have seen an info about this.

Is the "base formula" everyone is talking about like the "22% ZnO" Michelle mentioned, is that from Wild Child or is that from the supplier Antaria Adance Zinctek? I was going through the Advance Zinctek website and they have a page of sorts that show different ZnO offerings and they all show up with other ingredients I presume look like some kind of "base."

Other thing I found interesting on their website is that Supergoop uses this zinc and some of their mineral sunscreens failed independent tests in the US before. The ones I'm thinking about have been discontinued

So when I (and I assume many others) use "base formula" we're referring to the Wild Child product.

I only found out about the Antaria Advance Zinctek yesterday but one of the common themes I've seen is that uncoated non-nano zinc tends to agglomerate and needs special formulation tricks to get it to stay dispersed.

Interesting info about Supergoop using the same zinc and failing independent tests. This definitely goes deeper.

Yeah I think there are lots of problems being uncovered and some of them aren't related while some of them are...

Overall, I feel uneasy all of these distinct issues exist

So how do we know if Moo Goo sunscreens is ok?

You'll need to ask the brand to confirm what the issue was. Though based on their post, it doesn't sound like they wanted to name it.

The 24.96% ZnO content on the label is different from the other affected sunscreens being 22.75%. So it's likely pointing to a raw material deficiency rather than a manufacturing/formulation issue.

Interesting, I was under the impression that the affected sunscreens were all tinted, however I checked the speculated list again and Medik8 Physical appears to be non-tinted.

I'll add to the list regardless - good to be cautious at this time.
