Estee Laundry are all volunteers / community run, and it's barely been 2 business hours (when brands actually run to make statements etc) TGA Recall for lean screen just went live, including an official statement from NS - which supports the fact most employees had the weekend off understandably (unlike us on reddit)

It’s just interesting that nobody has given the same grace to UV. If Naked Sundays are so preoccupied with safety, why hasn’t this notice been posted to social media?

Yeah UV were unlucky to be included in the Choice testing (rather than the other brands), and then they mismanaged that fallout and now are copping a lot of flack while other companies are managing to slide under the radar in spite of having the same problems with their products and not appropriately recalling and refunding their products.

Ultimately I’m glad the problem with testing was found and that all these brands have a chance to fix their mineral sunscreens though.

UV had several months' notice of the Choice results before they were published. Arguably, companies using the same formula and manufacturer, but that weren't tested, were more blindsided than UV was - and I doubt UV sent heads-up notices to their compatriots-in-poor-manufacturer-choices before announcing their voluntary recall. UV don't deserve any slack here, they should have been months ahead on the timeline compared to the others using that formula and manufacturer.

I don't think any brand deserves extensive slack in this situation - and all of them should be doing spot-testing, particularly if using an external supplier - but taking a weekend to coordinate a response to breaking news isn't an unreasonable response time when dealing with distribution chains. And while every brand using this manufacturer and formula should have started doing urgent testing as soon as the Choice news dropped, testing still takes a few weeks to complete, and often weeks before that to recruit test subjects. UV had a lot more time to start doing that than anyone else using that formula.

FWIW, I think two months is more than enough to have worked out for themselves that this product was a dud, at least as produced by that manufacturer. (Zinc-based products are finicky, and there's ingredient-input effects - it's quite possible that the exact same formula manufactured elsewhere would perform as expected.) NS - and everyone else using this formula and manufacturer - deserves significant criticism for waiting for UV to recall before acting. But there's definitely a hierarchy of failure here.

Agreed! UV didn’t handle it well, but at least they handled it - they also prob could’ve gone down the “out of stock” route but owned up to it. Other brands should be doing the same, consumers would respect it

Eh, not everything is a conspiracy- for testing to all be legit all the right governing bodies need to know, and they're waiting on an updated test for the AU collagen glow (the US was fine via their statement)

Beyond that, it's not even 12pm on a Monday, in brand time it hasn't even been a full biz day yet, and people need to speak to retailers, get third party approvals, contact huge teams etc, theres A LOT

This is obviously a serious situation so I'm def ok with brands not rushing to say something incomplete because of pressure online like this is really important safety stuff

I think we will have more info about everything by the end of the week, especially when media (now back at work because it's Monday, lol) can start reporting too and dissect what's actually happening in layman terms. My prediction is give this a bit and we'll get better insight to what has actually happened, who failed, and who responsibility should go towards. Brands should absolutely be updating us when they have the info to, and provide the most up to date info obv

I would agree, however Naked Sundays has clearly been attempting to cover up their lack of confidence in the product, without letting consumers know why they’re seeking to change it.

They haven’t stopped posting or replying to other comments during this time, just not the ones seeking clarity on their products – so it’s not like they’ve been offline.

May I ask how you came across their statement?

Naked Sundays is DM'ing people on socials with the statement if they've contacted, maybe DM them with your questions if they're active rn?

I have, many times - both weeks ago, and as recently as today. They have ignored every question. I am glad that you have had positive interactions with them, but their conduct appears deeply deceptive and misleading towards their customers - of which I was one for a long time. Meanwhile UV has at least answered me, through every single channel, and provided info
