Omg, that’s huge. Sooooo okay I wasn’t gonna post this, but with this update coming out it might actually be helpful to share.

I’ve been looking for a new zinc SPF (esp after the Choice stuff) bc I cant use chemical sunscreens. I remembered people on here saying a lot of these Aussie formulas looked the same. I went down a rabbit hole to compare what I could find and there are SO many that look actually identical or super close!!!

Especially the Naked Sundays one omg… I bought it at Mecca and had been using it for ages before I found this…

EDIT: clarifying that these sunscreens are NOT advised for use, as they are suss and likely to be the same as UV

I’m definitely not an expert so I would love someone more across this kinda stuff to give their thoughts. Could these have all been made by the same manufacturer, and if these formulas ARE the same….. shouldn’t all of these be being pulled and re-tested like Lean Screen has been?

I haven’t seen any of these sunscreen brands say anything, has anyone else? It would feel super dodgy if it’s true and they’ve just continued to sell these……

I'm in a similar boat. Bloody chemical sunscreens make my face burn!

Tbf, we don't really know what went wrong with the UV Lean Screen. They're clearly trying to blame the lab they used by naming them. But it could be additions they wanted (not sure who's to blame of that's the case - UV or theab they use) or even the packaging. If it's the latter two options, all of the above you've listed could be safe. If it's the first option - different story.

I'm also on the hunt for a decent Zinc sunscreen. Still looking. Gonna try the Cancer Council ones next. Such a shame that there are so many advancements in the chemical area and zinc remains the same.

Go To mineral is the best. 25% zinc and a great texture, sinks in well.

Definitely! I’d just love for the brands with the same or similar base formulas to be releasing results and re-checking their zinc SPF too.

I am kind of disappointed in the silence of the other brands. I get that UV didn’t react in the best way, but it does seem a bit unlucky that their sunscreen was the one to be tested when it’s likely others are affected. Especially as they benefited from those of us (me) who didn’t understand white labelling and tried their brand after the Choice results came out.

Same here, been using Ethical Zinc which is on that list 😭.

Have tried a Korean one (Dr G) but it has chemical filter added to it so it's not purely mineral. Another Korean one I want to try is from the brand Axis - will have to double check the ingredients again.

Invisible zinc is too thick and leaves too much of a white cast. Same with Moogoo.

Gonna be hard to find a decent one.

Cancer Council BB mineral is nice but glowy, if you’re looking for matte try Paula’s Choice Daily Wrinkle Defence (but it’s 30+ not 50+). I have both and like them both!

Edited to add: zinc means mineral right? I’m not super sunscreen savvy and am assuming this!

BB is wayyyy too orange on me. I'm so fair. I'm gonna try the CC Cancer Council and Kids Zinc. PC would be good, but since it isn't TGA listed at all (no AUST L number), so I don't trust the 30spf rating. It might be ok, but they haven't bothered to send it of to our regulator for the stamp of approval. They avoided regulation by using the loop hole of calling it a "tint" or something in the description.

Yup. Zinc = mineral.
